I hope you’re in the mood for music, Carson City. The annual Jazz and Beyond Festival begins today with an art show and concert on the lawn of the Bliss Mansion. Over the next two weeks you’ll have a plethora of melody to choose from at venues throughout town. Enjoy an outdoor concert at Third and Carson with Drinking with Clowns. Sassafras is thrilled to grab Groove Session for a show; they’re usually off touring. Mo’z Motley Blues will give you a reason to dance at Living the Good Life. Jimmie Ray’s Black Train – A Tribute to Johnny and June, Trains, America and some friends – A Musical Journey Back in Time – The Man, The Music, The Memories - Is coming to the Piper’s Opera House for the third year; this time as part of a fund raiser for the Kiwanis Club. Theater.

This show is designed to more than a concert but an experience. In 2003 the world has lost both American roots legends, Johnny Cash and the beloved June Carter Cash.

The weekend has arrived and it’s bringing a plethora of activity with it. Car lovers will want to head to the Silver Dollar Car Classic at the Max Casino, known as the Carson Station just a few days ago. The Classic moves to Mills Park for the weekend. If the Mustangs and Broncos you prefer are horses, rather than Fords, you’ll want to grab a ticket to the Bull Riding Competition at the State Fair. Carnival rides, circus performances, and live music will keep everyone entertained. Make sure to catch the shuttle from the Casino Fandango parking garage: parking at Fuji Park is extremely limited. ‘Break a leg’ to the cast of Peter Pan. Don’t miss the Reno Jazz Orchestra as it presents “Perfectly Frank” Bobby Caldwell on the edge of Lake Tahoe. It’s a night down memory lane wrapped with some of Sinatra’s most famous tunes performed by some of the finest jazz musicians in the west - presented in true Sinatra style by acclaimed soul stylist, pop and rhythm and blues singer and songwriter, Bobby Caldwell.

If Frank Sinatra were alive today to celebrate his 100th birthday this year, he would be proud to be a part of this swinging night of big band music and song.

The Nevada State Prison will be rocking next Monday night June 29 as well-known country folk singer Lacy J. Dalton is the first to perform in this historic setting. Joining her in concert will be singer/songwriter Dale Poune, the accomplished guitarist from Carson City who has performed with some high-profile bands.

Ambrosia and Pablo Cruise co-headline at Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project, Wednesday, July 8 at Cafe at Adele’s in what is shaping up to be a sold-out, hit-laden evening of fantastic music.

Ambrosia will be in the house performing their numerous hits and new offerings, including their latest song “Hopes & Dreams,” written for and featured in the movie, “The Sparrows Nesting."

June is National Soul Food Month, so my suggestion for today is a trip to Sassafras for some New Orleans inspired grub and a great free concert. Songwriter Bryan Hayes will be in house for one night to help promote his new album ‘Farther Down the Line.’ Check out the Official Video for his new Single ‘I Wanna Run.’ The song was written in Mosul, Iraq, and one of Bryan's soldiers, SGT Zach Tucker, is featured in the video.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975, will present Autoharp Master, Singer and Storyteller Bryan Bowers on Saturday night, May 2 in the Maize Harris Jesse Black Box Theater.

From his rather unglamorous beginning as a street singer, Bryan Bowers has become a major artist on the traditional music circuit. He has redefined the autoharp and is also well known as a singer-songwriter. Bryan has a dynamic outgoing personality and an uncanny ability to enchant a crowd in practically any situation.

Harveys Outdoor Summer Concert Series at south shore Lake Tahoe has expanded with the announcement of two fan favorites to the summer 2015 lineup. Sir Elton John and his band return Saturday, Aug. 8 to Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena as part of the “All The Hits” tour. This summer also marks the return of country star Brad Paisley.

Country music legend Merle Haggard will launch the TJ's Corral Outdoor concert series May 1 at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, according to an announcement Wednesday on its website.

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of September. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Sept. 15 through 30.

Canyon Band, featuring RN+R's '2nd Best Local Songwriter' , Canyon White, will be performing free, an all original, all ages, concert Saturday August 16th from 6-8 pm at A-Zen Gift and Thrift on N. Carson Street.

This year, the United States celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first visit to these shores. The "Jazz & Beyond: Carson City Music Festival" is excited to provide two exciting Beatles events in honor of that occasion.

Tom May and Chris Kennedy are scheduled to perform in Carson City, NV at The Brewery Arts Center performance hall, 511 West King St., Friday, July 25 at 7:30P p.m.

Tom May is a folksinger, songwriter and author who has been touring, performing, and recording for over forty years. He is also the host/producer of the radio show, “River City Folk,” heard on dozens of radio stations weekly since 1985 and on XM Satellite Radio throughout the country.

Northern Nevada residents will get a rare chance to see Shane Dwight perform at Carson Station Casino, Carson City, Saturday, April 19 at 8 p.m. The concert is free.

In the music industry, there is often a preference to try and quickly define an artist and his music by placing him in one or two genre categories. The problem is a preconceived model doesn't fit someone like Dwight.

Mike Beck returns to Café at Adele’s at 6 p.m., Friday, March 14, in a benefit performance for The Joyful Horse Project, and in support of wild horse rescue efforts in Northern Nevada.

Artsy Fartsy Gallery of Carson City will have an array of Western art by local artists available. The hat will be passed and donations, which will be matched by Café at Adele’s, as well as a portion of art sales will go toward supporting wild horse rescue efforts in Northern Nevada.

Musician and educator John Shipley will present a lecture and demonstration with slides and audio samples on the history of rock n' roll, concluding with questions and comments from the audience and the raffle of an electric guitar. The talk will be on Tuesday, August 6, 7-8:30 p.m., at Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W. King Street, Carson City. Admission is free.

Louisiana love comes West when Lisa Haley and the Zydekats brings their blend of Americana, Cajun and Zydeco to Carson City July 14.

This Grammy-nominated fiddler, dancer, vocalist, and songwriting act will serve up heart-moving Louisiana Bayou rhythms, traditional stylings and original songs to an all-ages audience at the Brewery Arts Center.

Blending modern roots music to a wide audience, Lisa Haley and the Zydekats go beyond the traditional Cajun, Zydeco genre. Prepare to catch "Zydecosis!"

At 63, singer-songwriter Rick Millward is ramping up a career when most artists are retiring, or heading out for nostalgia tours.

This ambition was sparked by an experiment in social media, using the Reverbnation.com site to introduce his recordings to a wider audience. He joined Reverbnation a little over a year ago, as an experiment, entering the Nashville Americana “chart” at No. 85. He will be appearing at Comma Coffee in Carson City July 8.

The New World Comes To Carson City with Reno local band CRUSH! plays at The Venue on Friday, March 29. CRUSH is the kind of music you will want to jump and throw your hands with singer and drummer Jimmy Dunn and 'Lose Control,' which is also a song off their 2012 debut album “First Crush.”

Known for their own self-production and original songwriter, the group's second studio album “New World” (2013) was produced by CRUSH’s own Daniel Sion, who also does the live computers, sound-board, synthesizer at live shows as well as sing and sometimes run the main sound-board for the whole show.

After a much deserved break, nationally-acclaimed bluesman Shane Dwight is back on tour and will be at High Sierra Brewery Co., on Friday, March 8 beginning at 8 p.m.

Looking for something to do tonight? Los Angeles-based acoustic guitarist and pianist Kingwhistler will perform at Comma Coffee, beginning at 7 p.m.
"It is a real treat to have this talented singer songwriter from L.A. perform at Comma Coffee," said owner June Joplin. "He rocks his acoustic 'California Country' style on the guitar and piano."

The next Music Club Monday at Brewery Arts Center in Carson City is Sept. 10 and will feature Richard Elloyan, cowboy singer and poet.
Elloyan has recently released his fourth CD “Back In Heaven.” Joining once again with his talented producer, Steven Swinford, they have created yet another compilation of lyrical and visually graphic stories of the modern West. Richard’s love for Nevada, songs of the land, and unrequited love are beautifully arranged and sung in the rich voice we have all come to love.
