Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Rockabilly Riot car show, Dayton Valley Days, a pancreatic cancer awareness walk at Silver Oak Golf Course, the annual Pooch Plunge at the Carson Aquatic Facility, horse endurance races in Virginia City, history talks at Mormon Station Park and much more!

Coming up on the final stretch of the work week, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area, including a morning Tahoe Rim Trail hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, a Status of Women in Nevada meeting at the Carson Nugget, activities at the library including the first in a series of Job Seeking With Google workshops, plus the first of the three-day Rockabilly Riot car show at Mills Park and more. Activities include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, a Charters of Freedom presentation in the Ormsby Room of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, bike rides, train rides, a film viewing at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City and more. The Carson City Parks and Recreation department will host an interpretive hike tonight, September 14 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

This is the third annual Full Moon Sunset Hike. Hikers will be starting from the Koontz Lane Trailhead at Prison Hill and will be hiking up to the top to watch the Sunset over Carson.

A break will be had to rest and take photos and appreciate the sunset. Later, attendees will hike back down under the full moon.

Hikers will need to bring layers, close-toed shoes, a flashlight or headlamp, and plenty of water.

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Pine Nuts Mountains. Meet in the OHV and Equestrian parking area on Sierra Vista Lane about 1.5 miles from Pinon Hills Drive.

It was a day like any other when ShaRae Staley woke on August 3 in her home on N. Edmonds Street in Carson City. She received a message from her husband, who she had separated from six weeks previous, that he wanted to come over and make their children breakfast and take them to the park. ShaRae agreed, as any mother would.

When her husband, Cortney Staley, arrived, nothing seemed amiss. He came and made their children breakfast, and she went to work.

Red Wing, Minnesota is the cutest town I ever saw. You can't see it without falling in love with it. I wanted to fold it up and take it home with me. They make shoes there, comfortable, sensible shoes. I was reminded of what my mother told me, "Honey, always have a good pair of shoes and a good bed, 'cuz you're either in one or the other."

A Carson City woman was arrested by Carson City deputies Thursday afternoon after allegedly attempting to steal $80,000 from her ex-employer, according to the arrest report.

Helen Donner Kelly was arrested after deputies were contacted by the accountant of the business who reported that they had received a call from the bank advising that Kelly had entered the bank that day and requested to close the current business account for the employer and have the funds transferred into her personal account.

Time: Meet at Hwy 50 Park and Ride, just west of the intersection of Hwy 395 S and Hwy 50 W, at 8:00am. We'll carpool to Incline Village to walk on the recently-opened multi-use pathway: Tahoe East Shore Trail.

Where: The three-mile Tahoe East Shore Trail, on the south side of Incline Village. We will park at Tunnel Creek and then walk south towards the lookout at Memorial Point. The entire trail is paved.
