Man jailed on drug charges gives Carson City officers his brother's ID to avoid arrest

Two men were arrested Friday, 3:45 a.m. at the intersection of William and Stewart streets in Carson City on drug-related charges.

Casey S. Clifford, 20, faces a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and three lesser charges: obstructing an officer, possession marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A 31-year-old man was also arrested on a misdemeanor warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Carson City Man Found Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Girl

A 49-year-old Carson City man was found guilty Friday of seven counts of sexual assault of a young girl.

After eight hours of deliberations, jurors convicted James Johnson of three counts of lewdness with a child under 14, three counts of sexual assault on a child under 15, along with one count of sexual assault on a child under 16.

The trial lasted three days and was prosecuted by Carson City Assistant District Attorney Mark Krueger and Deputy District Attorney Iris Yowell.

Attorney General appoints new members to Council for Prevention of Domestic Violence

LAS VEGAS - Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto announced April 2 that she appointed two new members to the Nevada Council for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. The new members are Magann Jordan, Clark County District Attorney Victim Services Unit; and Lt. Loren Napier, Las Vegas Metropolitan Department.

“I am very excited to have our new members join the council,” said Masto. “Their expertise will aide in our efforts to prevent domestic violence in Nevada.”

Storey County schools make 'first of its kind' decision for student safety

The Storey County School District Director of Transportation has become the first in the nation to take the pro-active step to hold interactive, scenario-based attack countermeasure training for school bus drivers. The first training takes place this Friday, Jan. 3 in Virginia City.

Carson Tahoe Health Hosts Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training Course

Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City was selected by the International Order of Forensic Nurses as the West Coast site for the clinical portion of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training course. The training took place on November 18 and 19 at the Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center where 15 nurses were certified, four of which are employed by Carson Tahoe Health.

Carson City Sheriff's Office: Tier III Sex Offender registers

The Carson City Sheriff's Office advised Wednesday that a Tier III sex offender — the highest level — has registered and is now living in the area of Ramsey Circle in Carson City.

Steven Ray Glasgow, 43, was convicted in 1989 of second degree rape. The crime was committed in Oregon.

Glasgow is not wanted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office but was required under law to register with the Carson City Sheriff's Office and to provide community notification.

Carson City woman faces charge of battery with sexual assault

A 39-year-old Carson City woman, already in custody at the Carson City Jail on other charges, faces a felony charge of battery with sexual assault.

Brandi Mary Diann Chapin, is being held on $100,000 bail. Carson City authorities learned of the warrant Monday through Carson City Justice Court.

Carson City man wanted for sexual assault of child turns himself into authorities

A 48-year-old Carson City man faces two felony counts of sexual assault against a child under the age of 14. James G. Johnson, whose last known address was in a residential complex at 4013 Pheasant Drive in Carson City, is being held on $200,000 bail.

Johnson turned himself into the Carson City Sheriff's Office Detention Division on Monday at 9:45 p.m. based on a warrant issued out of Carson City Municipal Court. The confirmed arrest warrant was issued June 12, 2013.

Carson City man jailed after admitting to sexual assault

A 38-year-old Carson City man faces a felony sexual assault charge, admitting to investigators that he committed the crime against a 16-year-old girl.

Joaquin Canales-Montes is being held on $100,000 bail. He was arrested Tuesday after agreeing to a voluntary interview by Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators. The crime happened in the 3000 block of Airport Road around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, he told officers after he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak.

Carson Now is withholding information to protect the victim.

Carson City man jailed, accused of sexually assaulting child

A Carson City man was arrested and faces a felony charge of sexual assault on a child.
David Alan Stone, 58, was arrested in the 2400 block of Bunch Way on Monday, 8:26 p.m. after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Stone was placed into handcuffs and taken to jail with a confirmed warrant and a bail amount of $150,000.

Man who escaped Storey County Jail found near Mound House

Jeremy James Morales, the inmate who escaped from the Storey County Jail on Oct. 1 was found Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Morales was found near Mound House outside the Storey County line, said Sheriff Gerald Antinoro. He was dehydrated and had injuries to his feet. He was taken into custody and booked back into the Storey County Jail. He escaped by locking a deputy inside his cell when the deputy was doing bed checks.
He was and is being held on charges of sexual assault involving a minor. Morales was returned to the jail and faces additional charges.

Domestic Violence Awareness month culminates with Light the Night Oct. 20 at Riverview Park

With October designated Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Carson City-based Advocates to End Domestic Violence will hold a Light the Night 5K and 10K Walk/Run at Riverview Park on October 20.
This event, a fundraiser for Advocates, is a spinoff of the national Take Back the Night campaign, bringing it closer to home and creating Carson City's own event to bring awareness to domestic violence and sexual assault, said Traci Trenoweth, volunteer coordinator for Advocates.

Authorities look for man who escaped from Virginia City Jail early Monday morning

Authorities are looking for a man, unarmed but believed dangerous, who escaped early this morning from the Virginia City Jail. Jeremy James Morales, escaped at about 1:50 this morning, according to Storey County authorities. He was being held in Storey County Jail on charges of sexual assault involving a minor.
Morales, 38, is 5' 11" tall and weighs about 220 pounds. He apparently locked a deputy inside his jail cell when the deputy was doing cell checks. He was scheduled to be sentenced to the Nevada Corrections Department today.

Rombardo to appoint Mark Krueger as Carson City Assistant District Attorney

With the recent appointment of Gerald Gardner to Chief of Staff for the Governor’s Office, Carson City District Attorney Neil A. Rombardo will be appointing Mark Krueger to fill the Assistant District Attorney position vacated by Gardner, according to a news release. Krueger will officially begin his new role as Carson City’s second in charge of the District Attorney’s Office on Sept. 24.

Carson City DA report services to crime victims jump by 57 percent

Carson City District Attorney Neil Rombardo reports that his Victim-Witness Services Division has seen a 57 percent increase in services provided to victims of crime in the first half of the year. Between January 1 and June 30, 2012, nearly 300 victims were served by the grant-funded Victim-Witness Coordinator. This represents a 57 percent increase over the same reporting period in 2011. Of the numbers 219 were victims of domestic violence, 73 were victims of stalking, and 7 were victims of sexual assault.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies have arrested the following people based on felony allegations:

  • Georgann B. McPeters, 55, a Dayton woman, was transferred from Lyon County to the Carson City Detention Facility at 12:30 p.m. Monday. McPeters was transferred on a felony embezzlement warrant in her name. Bail has been set at $20,000.

Crime Log: man arrested for sexual assault in Carson City

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals over the weekend for felony allegations:

  • Jeffrey David Volosin, 29, a Gardnerville man, for several warrants in his name: lewdness with a child under the age of 14 (two counts) and sexual assault on a child under 14 (five counts). These warrants were issued on the 24th of February out of Carson City. Bail has been set at $250,000.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals on felony or gross misdemeanor allegations over the weekend:

  • Michael Eric Irwin, 26, a Carson City resident, was transported to the Carson City Detention Facility for allegations of lewdness with a child under 14, and two allegations of sexual assault of a child under 14. Irwin was arrested in Washoe County and transported to the CCDF at approximately 9:30 Friday evening. A warrant for Irwin's arrest was issued on March 26, 2012 by the Carson City Justice Court. Bail is set at $150,000.

California fugitive convicted of sexual assault on a minor captured in Douglas County

Douglas County authorities have arrested a California fugitive from justice who was convicted of sexual assault on a minor.
Rick David Oliver, 47, of Yuba County, Calif., was captured by Douglas County Sheriff's authorities and the FBI on Friday afternoon after he was located in the 1100 block of Linda Anne Court in the east valley area of Gardnerville, said Douglas County Undersheriff Paul Howell.
The law agencies learned that Oliver was at the location, recently having fled California to avoid sentencing and capture from law enforcement, Howell said.

Douglas County fugitive found at Carson City motel

UPDATE: From the Douglas County Sheriff's Office: Fleeing felon Victor Mora Jr. was captured Wednesday night, at the Carson City Inn Motel in Carson City. Mora Jr. was captured by Douglas County Investigator Investigator Nadine Chrzanowski after receiving an anonymous tip regarding his whereabouts.
Mora Jr. is currently in custody at the DCSO Minden Jail, booked on an arrest warrant for lewdness with a minor.
Bail is set at $50,000.
Chrzanowski expresses her appreciation for assistance received from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office in assisting in the arrest.

Carson City man arrested for sexually abusing twin girls

Jorge Gomez-Dominguez, 37, was arrested Thursday for allegedly sexually abusing twin 11-year-old girls.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies interviewed the two girls Thursday morning, the day after one of the twins said the suspect had performed oral sex acts on her. The sisters said their he had been touching them inappropriately for the last year when their mother wasn't at home.

Authorities arrest man on abduction, alleged attempted sexual assault on a child charges

Deputies of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have arrested 21-year-old Jacob Wilcher on charges of kidnapping and attempted sexual assault. At approximately 11:40 am on Sunday, Douglas County deputies were dispatched to a call of an attempted child abduction at the Lifepoint Church, in Minden.

Carson City man arrested for sexual assault against 15-year-old girl

Carson City Sheriff deputies Sunday night arrested Luis Mayoral-Ortiz, 27, in the 3200 block of Market Street for sexual assault involving a 15-year-old girl.

According to the police report, the victim reported being at a residence in the 400 block of Hot Springs Road, and that the suspect had given her shots of Jack Daniels. She said she became sick and passed out, and when she woke up, the suspect was having sex with her.

Carson City deputies arrest two for sexual assault of girls, 11, 12

Carson City Deputies arrested one man and another male they think might be a juvenile for
allegedly taking two girls, 11 and 12 years old, from MIlls Park and sexually assaulting near the Carson River Tuesday night.

Enrique Lopez-Cervantes, 24, and another male whose identification showed he is 17, were arrested Wednesday night after detectives found them at Mills Park.
