Senator Square: From Carson High School grad to CHS teacher

One of her favorite quotes is from French dramatist Jean Marie Lucien Pierre Anouilh, who said, “Things are beautiful if you love them,” and Hannah Etchison, Carson High’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program Coordinator, loves people, loves Carson City, and said, “I wanted to help in the community that raised me.”

They wore pajamas, were wrapped in blankets, and carried cups of Dutch Bros and Starbucks as they gathered to celebrate the beginning of their senior year and the almost end of the soothing summer weather. The Class of 2020-2021, while practicing social distancing and wearing the latest fashion in face masks, gathered together at 6:00 a.m. Sept. 4 on the bleachers of the CHS football field to watch their sun rise.

Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning delivered more than 20 brand-new box fans for Carson City seniors during the annual 2020 KOLO Cares Fan Drive.

This is the second year the Carson City Senior Center has participated in the drive, distributing fans to seniors who either do not have air conditioning or who may not be able to afford to run it.

Carson High School Graduates honored with motorcade graduation

Today, Carson High School's 2020 Graduates were honored by the school, their families and their community with a social-distance graduation, in which graduates were escorted to the stage by motorcade, many of the cars decorated for each graduate.

Carson High students retrieve belongings, return property as school year ends

Parents and students waited in a student motorcade Thursday outside Carson High School in order to return school property and retrieve student property from the campus.

Yesterday, June 3 was the final day of the school year for Carson City students, in what was surely a bittersweet end to an unusual year due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
