Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning donates over 20 new box fans to Carson City seniors through Fan Drive

Roper’s Heating and Air Conditioning delivered more than 20 brand-new box fans for Carson City seniors during the annual 2020 KOLO Cares Fan Drive.
This is the second year the Carson City Senior Center has participated in the drive, distributing fans to seniors who either do not have air conditioning or who may not be able to afford to run it.
Dirk Roper, owner of Roper’s, donated 20 fans last year. This year, Roper said they purchased another 20 fans and have collected a few more from their customers.
“It is our job every day to make people comfortable,” Roper said. “Many seniors are unable to afford a fan, let alone air conditioning. This is our way of making our seniors safe and comfortable in the summer heat.”
Seniors aged 60 or older are eligible to receive a new fan, with priority given to seniors without air conditioning and those who have not previously participated in the program. More than 140 fans were donated to Carson City seniors during last year’s drive, and Michael Salogga, business manager for the Senior Center said they expect to distribute around 120 fans this year.
Brand new box fans may still be dropped off at the Carson City Senior Center between 9 and 10:30 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. or by appointment at 911 Beverly Drive, Carson City, through August 31. Appointments may be made by calling (775) 883-0703.
Donations are also accepted at the Carson City Christensen Automotive location at 1860 E. William Street.
