Good Day Carson City, it is Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018. The winter weather continues today albeit without any storm watches or warnings this morning. Light snow showers will continue today and and pick up tonight with less than an inch possible. As always be careful out on the roads. You'll be able to warm up at a number of venues today, including a holiday swing party with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at Casino Fandango's new Grand Ballroom and at the Carson City School District Orchestra Program concert at the community center.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. A busy week ahead will start off chilly with sunny skies today and chances of snow daily through Thursday. Otherwise, bundle up and enjoy the late fall weather. Winter officially arrives Dec. 21.

The skies above Carson City are forecast to be mostly sunny and blue Sunday, but the air near freezing at 35 degrees for a daytime high. Bundle up if you decided to recreate outdoors today.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Nevada state capital, and there is no shortage of holiday events and activities to make the season bright.

With winter weather having arrived, it seems only appropriate the last Friday of November is when Carson City celebrates the holiday season in a big way by ringing in the spirit of giving with the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights.

With steady rain in the city early this morning, slushy snow in the foothills and heavy snow in the Sierra, we are on our way to winter even though it is still technically fall. It sure is beginning to look like Christmas, especially as we head into the weekend, with Friday's Silver and SnowFlakes Festival of Lights at the capitol and Saturday's downtown Holiday Crawl.

For most, waking up this morning to rain was a big relief given the fire situation over the past few months. Today is Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Today is known as "Giving Tuesday" an international day of charitable offering established five days after Thanksgiving at the beginning of the Christmas and holiday season. Have a favorite charity or nonprofit organization? Their cups are extended today and they could sure use any help you can provide, even if it's a few dollars, the equivalent of a cup of coffee.

A local holiday donation drive giving to Toys For Tots kicked off on Black Friday, Nov. 23 through Capitol Cab in Carson City.

Toys for Tots will be offering gifts to families in Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties for Christmas. The hotline opens Nov. 27 and runs through Dec. 21, 2018.

Among the events and activities today include continued voting to bring the Levitt AMP concert back to Carson City this summer, a Silver and Blue Nevada rivalry blood drive, a volunteer meeting for Toys for Tots; a showing of "Casino Boss" that was filmed this summer at the Carson Nugget starring SNL Alum Jose Piscopo, a visit by Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift in Dayton, art showings and more.

Carson City's Toys for Tots 2018 holiday roundup is in need of volunteers throughout November and December. There will be a volunteer meeting, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 6 p.m. at the iStorage East facility, 3579 Highway 50 East No. 114, Carson City.

With bouncy, rubber balls flying across two courts, Queen's 1980 lyrics were fulfilled Friday night in a competitive and friendly dodgeball tournament hosted by the Carson City District Attorney's Office at the Multi-purpose Athletic Center (MAC) in Carson City.

CARSON CITY — Legislation from 1995 established Family Resource Centers in Nevada, and today FRCs provide information, referrals, and case management to residents in almost every urban center in the state. In a broad sense, FRCs work with local and state agencies and other groups to help individuals and families access needed services and support.

Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program and multiple agencies from around Carson City will hold a Veterans Resource Fair on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Carson Nugget.

Veterans and their caregivers will be provided with information on services and programs provided by area non-profits, advisory groups, government agencies, and the private sector. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The annual "Feds Feed Families" Food drive begins today, Friday Aug. 3 and continues through Sept. 15. Donated food will benefit hungry families in Carson City through the Ron Wood Family Resource Center and Friends in Service Helping (FISH).

The fourth annual Sassabration is happening now through Saturday evening in the parking lot of Carson Hot Springs Resort, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

The 11-hour diversity festival, co-hosted this year by Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, Carson Hot Springs Resort, and Shoe Tree Brewing Company, started at noon Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. tonight.

Sassabration, an annual celebration of diversity, is returning this Saturday to Carson City in the parking lot of Carson Hot Springs Resort, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road.

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development announced Thursday that five Carson City area programs will receive nearly $442,000 in community development block grants.
