A 60-year-old transient was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 24, in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for alleged battery of a protected person, a felony, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report says.

Today, the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation named Carson City, Nevada as one of 20 small to mid-sized towns and cities across America to win a Levitt AMP Grant Award of $25K in matching funds to present a free concert series at The Change Companies Stage. The Brewery Arts Center submitted Carson City’s Levitt AMP proposal.

UPDATE: A 23-year-old Carson City man who died Friday from multiple gunshot wounds was tried and acquitted at a Lake Tahoe court earlier this year on charges of indecent exposure and lewdness with a child under the age of 12, court records show. Kyle Sullivan Bryan was found not guilty by a jury on both counts on April 11, 2019 in El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe.

A Carson City man who died from multiple gunshots Friday in what is being investigated as a possible homicide on Washoe Tribe land was arrested in 2018 for warrants out of South Lake Tahoe for alleged lewdness with a child.

The South Carson Street project design is complete. The project team is pleased to announce the completion of the project design after nearly a year of design progression since the initial public kick-off meeting on December 11, 2018. A 50-year-old flooding issue in a Carson City neighborhood could finally see a solution with the “North Carson Area Drainage Plan” proposed by Carson City Public Works.

According to Robert Fellows, P.E., Chief Stormwater Engineer for Public Works, an issue involving flooding or “ponding” in a particular Carson City neighborhood has been on the books as an issue since Carson City was still Ormsby County, going back to the 1970s.

The break in the stormy weather was a short one, with more precipitation later in the day Wednesday, forecasters say. Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Kennan Peterson, regional organizer for the Tom Steyer presidential campaign. In 2013 he finished his degree in Political Science and International Relations at Beloit College in Beloit Wisconsin, his hometown. In the summer of 2014, he was hired as a field organizer for the Wisconsin Democrats' mid-term coordinated campaign.

The Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) announced the launch of its first podcast, Better PR, this week. The first three episodes are currently available on the chapter’s website at prsasierra.org/Podcast and will also stream on popular podcast platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcast in the future.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division has identified and arrested two suspects in numerous Carson City vehicle burglaries that happened in October and this month.

Over the past few weeks, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office has investigated numerous vehicle burglaries throughout the West and North sides of Carson City. Vehicle windows had been broken out and property was stolen. Surveillance videos from homes and businesses showed a male suspect.

CARSON CITY — JOIN Inc. was one of five Nevada organizations chosen to receive a $175,000 investment from Google.org for its innovative proposal to create economic opportunity in the community. JOIN Inc. will launch Career Bound NV Success Skills, a training program designed to ensure Northern Nevadans have access to basic technology and employability skills training needed for successful employment.

An agreement that aims for state and federal agencies to increase their collaborative efforts to reduce the risks and impacts of catastrophic wildfire was finalized Friday by the Office of Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
