CARSON CITY — The Nevada National Guard began assisting Washoe County Health District COVID-19 sample collection capability Friday at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center with about 30 medical support personnel.

The Assembly Republican Caucus addressed its plan Monday to reopen Nevada, proposing a framework, establishing a regional plan and a bi-partisan task force to advise on a strategy. CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak issued a Declaration of Emergency on Wednesday that would continue to support districts and schools in providing opportunities for students to learn from a distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The directive builds on a previous directive signed March 20, 2020 by the Governor, which waived requirements for state assessments, including Smarter Balanced assessments and end of course exams.

MINDEN — The Douglas County Roads Department installed six new road signs last week that will be activated with a radar detection system once some final preparation is done in the coming days. The new signs will provide drivers a higher level of visual guidance when approaching the curves and improves safety for all drivers.

The arrival and departure boards at the Reno Tahoe International Airport (RNO) were a light mix of on-time and cancelled flights. Walking through the main terminal at 2:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, the number of people travelling could be counted on one hand, literally.

On Monday, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced it is withdrawing a 2013 proposed rule to list the bi-state distinct population segment of greater sage-grouse as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The bi-state sage-grouse population is an isolated group of sage-grouse living along the California-Nevada border at the southwest edge of the species’ range.
