There’s more than one way to travel in Nevada, and our railways are the topic at both of Carson City’s museums. Learn about the Glenbrook Steam Engine’s history and what it took to get her back on track at the Nevada Railroad Museum. Street Vibrations is a celebration of all things motorcycle, but today the only cycle that truly matters is the three-wheeled one that belongs to Glen Lucky. A lot of towns have local celebrities; most everyone has seen Glen Lucky on the side of the road, pushing his bike to take him further. Today, the Nevada State Museum invites everyone to help Lucky celebrate his 65th birthday, complete with cake and a huge group photo.

Fall motorcycle riding has never been better and will be even more so this week as the Battle Born Harley Davidson 2017 Street Vibrations Fall Rally begins this Wednesday and runs through Sunday in Carson City.

By the end of the week we will enjoy the brief return of warm sunny days and hear the roar of the many bikes in town for the annual Street Vibrations Fall Rally. Unforgettable and exciting, this is how the Carson High School Homecoming celebration week began. Students enjoyed all the fun and festivities that began at 1 p.m. last Friday as every student in the school hustled to the big gym to prepare for and celebrate everything from the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior classes to the upcoming crowning of the 2017 Homecoming Queen and King.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Matt Sampson, director of operations for Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada in Carson City, was one of 15 Afterschool Ambassadors appointed by The Afterschool Alliance, a non-profit public awareness and advocacy organization dedicated to increasing the availability of afterschool programs for children.

The 14th Annual Jazz and Beyond Music Festival opens tonight with a Garden Party at the historic Bliss Mansion across from the Governor’s Mansion. Bring a picnic and enjoy an art show, great live music and tours of the mansion.

After five years in the 4 Paws 4-H Dog Club, Morgan Craghill, 14, had her first opportunity to compete in an actual dog show this week as part of the Carson City Fair at Fuji Park.

It won’t be lions, and tigers, and bears taking over Fuji Park; the Carson City Fair is more about bunnies, alpacas, pigs and chickens. It begins today with a 4-H dog show focusing on obedience and rally. You’ll have to wait until Wednesday for the carnival, but you’ll be rewarded for your patience with one dollar rides opening night, courtesy of Carson City Toyota. If you happened to be awake during the wee hours of the morning, you may have heard some thunder rattling about – there may be a little more of that on its way.

MONDAY:

JDRF of Northern Nevada will be holding its annual One Walk on Sunday, September 24, 2017, to raise awareness and funding for the local chapter.
Each year, nearly 3,000 people ascend on the University of Nevada campus to rally for JDRF's mission to turn "type one into type none."
Families, businesses, and community groups form teams for the walk, which is a scenic 5k around the UNR campus. To register, please visit walk.jdrf.org/reno or call Laurie Gorris at (775)332-2784.

After a tough 10-4 loss to El Paso, the Aces looked to rebound in a hurry Saturday, July 15th in Greater Nevada Field. With a small sample size of outings under their belts, starting pitchers Matt Koch (Reno) and Kyle Lloyd (El Paso) took the mound hoping to break the 1-1 tie in the four-game series.

Organizers of the Carson City Fair are seeking volunteers to help with a variety of duties.
“We have lots of positions available,” said Lindsay Chichester, chairwoman of the Carson City Fair Board. “We have everything from helping with the youth livestock show to assisting the judging of the static exhibits.”

With the sun shining bright, and 7,128 in attendance at Greater Nevada Field, the Reno Aces faced off against the Las Vegas 51s for the third time in their back and forth four game series Saturday. Starting pitchers Eric Jokisch (Reno) and Steven Matz (Las Vegas, placed on assignment) took the mound in a lefty vs. lefty duel. Ready to pitch the seams off the ball, and lead their respective teams to victory.

With 6,387 anxious fans in attendance, the Reno Aces faced off against the Las Vegas 51s for the third time in their four-game series at Greater Nevada Field in Reno.

If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. SATURDAY:

Congratulations on surviving yet another school year, it's officially summer. Celebrate with a family outing to Bower's Mansion and stick around for some live music by Acoustic Solution. Watch out for motorcycles, now that the Spring Rally has rumbled into town, the bikes will be out in full force. Tonight, head over to the Fandango to enjoy the Trey Stone Trio or grab a Hawaiian shirt and join in the Beach Party Karaoke fun at Carson Lanes.

FRIDAY:

Motorcycles are on the way. The Street Vibrations Spring Rally is rumbling into town and Battle Born Harley on Research Way is the place to be. Every Thursday, house band the Smoken Rabbits, gets the place jumping, but this party won’t end until Sunday. The weather is finally cooperating, so karaoke at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar will be out on their patio – J and M Productions has thousands of songs to choose from. Jimmy Mallett at Living the Good Live will croon you into yesteryear with Rat Pack nostalgia.

THURSDAY:

Hold onto those hats, Carson City, summer is off like a shot.

In a win or go home situation, the Carson High Senators returned home Wednesday to to Ron McNutt field in Carson City to face the Damonte Ranch Mustangs. It was a must-win game to stay alive in the NIAA 4A Northern Baseball playoffs.

An 8-7 loss to Galena put the Carson High Senators' playoff aspirations on the line Saturday during a two game double header with Bishop Manogue at Ron McNutt Field in Carson City.

With the regular season coming to a near end, and playoffs around the corner, the Carson High School Senators looked to finish strong down the stretch with a home game against the Galena Grizzlies.

The No. 42 has special significance to Reno resident Daniel Kimm, who wore that number on jerseys as a youth athlete in honor of his hero, legendary Brooklyn Dodger Jackie Robinson.
