A Pokemon Club event was held Saturday at the Carson City Library, part of the ongoing, season-long Summer Learning Challenge program.

This is going to be an epic Fathers’ Day weekend. Carson City Off-Road sponsored by Epic Rides has taken over downtown with everything mountain bike and plays host to a free Music Festival in McFadden Plaza. Don’t miss Arts and Culture Day at the Nevada State Railroad Museum with unlimited rides on the Steam Train, special vendors, and more. Stewart Indian School will be a hotspot of activity with the annual Fathers’ Day PowWow underway. This is just the tip of the iceberg, read on for more fun than you’ll know what to do with.

The Carson Comedy Club presents comedian Daniel Dugar for two nights of laughter this coming weekend June 15-16.

Doors open at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. The Comedy Club is located inside the Carson Nugget at 507 North Carson Street in Carson City.

Another Memorial Day has come. Today we observe the sacrifices of men and women who gave the last full measure of devotion in defense of the United States of America.

I was going to write about how this year marks the sesquicentennial of Decoration Day, predecessor to the modern Memorial Day holiday.

Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours will perform at Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center this Friday, May 18 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. McClain brings his unique blend of music and “humor with heart” to the stage, combining original songs with a hilarious slide show featuring life observations, social commentary and imaginary sponsors from his home town trailer park of Pine View Heights.

There’s a rumor of snowfall for this weekend, but it’s not expected to be too heavy in the valley. Don’t quote me on that, though, I’ve been wrong before. Break a leg to the Douglas students performing in ‘Game of Tiaras’ this weekend; the show sounds hilarious, but be warned, it’s not for kids. The University of Nevada, Reno is thrilled to see its Nevada Wolf Pack make it into the Sweet Sixteen. In celebration, UNR has created these quick videos highlighting community and state support featuring Reno native and Olympic gold medalist David Wise, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve.

Come out for a fun night of dance and big band music. The Brewery Arts Center is presenting the Rosebud’s Dance Band on Saturday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Performance Hall.

Rosebud's Dance Band plays mostly Big Band era dance, jazz and swing music. Along with pieces from the 60's and 70's with some current music.

CARSON CITY — What goes around comes around. Monte Fast has spent his life helping others, and now that he is in need of a little help, it has come to him. Fast was executive director of FISH, Friends in Service Helping, for 20 years. His career has also included serving as a pastor, a musician, music teacher and choir director.
