The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Heading into Thursday, May 9, 2019 we're looking at a few showers and partly sunny skies around Carson City. The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. Good day Carson City and welcome to Wednesday, May 8, 2019. We're looking at another day of sunshine and afternoon highs in the low 70s. We have activities throughout the region today, including a history presentation in Dayton, a Holocaust memorial service at the Governor's Mansion, art classes, live jazz and more. We want to send a big birthday "shoutout" to our outdoor editor emeritus Don Quilici, who turns 85 today. Don and his wife, Elaine, remain active, maintain healthy walks and hikes around the region and have plans for yet another Alaska outback trip this summer. Happy Birthday Q!

Heading into Tuesday, May 7, 2019 we are looking at another picture perfect day for a morning or evening stroll with Carson City's own Muscle Powered and a bevy of events, including a chamber digital marketing workshop, Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City Chapter meeting and open house, family movie and craft night at the Carson City Library, a filmmaking discussion followed by a showing of the classic "12 Angry Men" at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall and more. The beasts of Africa will be highlighted during a wildlife photography presentation to the Carson City Leisure Hour Club on Wednesday, May 15. Presented by Patrick Pevey and Carol Grenier for the first time, club members will share in the experiences of seven trips to Africa.

There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Oh what a difference the sunshine makes. The second day of May in Carson City will bring warming temperatures with a daytime high in the low 70s. The event lineup Thursday includes a law enforcement memorial at the capitol complex, a hike at Clear Creek, art showings, a lecture on the historic Transcontinental Railroad, live music and more. Events lined up include a cancer center benefit bow shoot hosted by Clear Creek Bowmen, a Muscle Powered bike ride, a Bee City USA Earth Week presentation, an open house at the Wungnema House in Mills Park, a Carson City Symphony concert and more. As the school year comes to an end, the 2018-2019 Carneta yearbook staff can finally slow down and take a breath. At the end of the week before Spring Break, at 8:30 p.m., the final pages were submitted, and the book was officially finished. After months of interviewing, photographing, and editing, the book is currently being printed by Walsworth Publishing Co., in Marceline, Kansas.

Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. The “Under the Big Top” Annual Father-Daughter Ball, a Carson City community-wide event for all ages held at Carson High School, is coming this Friday, April 26 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Carson High School senior students have successfully completed their 2019 Senior Projects, a CHS graduation requirement, and they could not have accomplished this without the selfless sacrifice of members of the Carson City community.

Good morning Carson City, and Happy Easter! Today will be more of the same with partly cloudy skies, gentle breezes, possible showers, with a high of 62 degrees and a low of 37 degrees. On the schedule today we have day two of egg hunting at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, an Easter Sunday service at the Community Center, a community bike ride, and more!

The first of two egg hunts at the Nevada Railroad Museum was a hit with the Easter hunters. Eggs filled with prizes, toys and stuffed animals were up for grabs during the hunt which lasted about one entire minute before the lawn was picked clean.

The Easter Bunny was on site for pictures, and inside the museum there will be children’s activities such as face painting, coloring stations, and more.

Festivities will continue throughout Saturday and then Sunday. The schedule is as follows:
