Happy Saturday Carson City, and say hello to February! That means Spring must be right around the corner! I hope so at least, because Friday’s beautiful weather was enough to make me ready to say goodbye to father winter.

Wine Walk, Super Bowl parties, standup comedy, karaoke and more: Carson City area readies for upcoming weekend

Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

Carson City man arrested for battery, obstruction following living room brawl

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 3400 block of Harvard Way Friday evening for battery and obstructing after he allegedly fought with his wife's coworker in their living room.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to the residence in report of a fight in progress. The reporting party was the man's wife and the other person in the fight was her co-worker, according to the report, and both were "highly intoxicated."

Carson City deputies arrest men for possession of drugs, bottled mercury

A 31-year-old Gardnerville man and a 29-year-old transient man were arrested in the area of the Goni Water Tower after deputies were alerted to a man in a vehicle next to the tower who appeared to be incapacitated and found they were allegedly using drugs and were in possession of several bottles of mercury.

Democrats, striving for smoothly run caucuses, focus on educating volunteers

As the February 22 presidential caucuses on inch closer, the party is amassing a slew of volunteers — for staffing sites on caucus day, registering voters and making calls, among other things.
