Staying connected to students, virtually, is the biggest challenge every educator is facing right now. Teachers, paraprofessionals, school counselors, administrators, school secretaries, custodians, and everyone for that matter is missing the energy and life students bring to our worlds.

Partnership Carson City is teaming up with Carson High School, presenting a free family engagement webinar series to help promote health and wellness for youth and adults alike.

During this pandemic, I would love to think I am in fact a builder because I strive to see the best in this, because I have been helping those struggling immensely during these hard times, and because I am doing my best to help the medical professionals I know.

Partnership Carson City will host a no cost informative webinar series every Tuesday at 3 p.m., each week covering a different topic that focuses on continuing to build a healthy, strong community.

Partnership Carson City’s online yoga Monday has been moved to 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. The free Wellness Yoga series going virtual is part of an effort to continue to provide a needed respite with the ongoing limitations as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19).

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Heading into the middle of the work work, activities around town include a yoga class offered through Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness, a midweek meditation series offered at Carson City Yoga, conversational Spanish classes at Partnership Carson City, Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, a presentation of "Valiant Women of The Vote" Mix and Mingle honoring the 19th Amendment at the Governor's Mansion, Ladies Night at Bella Vita Bistro, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and much more. Heading into Tuesday, sunny skies and more springlike weather are ahead before active weather patterns start up again later in the week. Activities lined up around the capital city include morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered. With the annual nationwide homeless “Count Day” around the corner, two Carson High School seniors are conducting a homeless drive and have created a GoFundMe page for monetary donations to support the effort.

Returning from the holiday weekend, activities Tuesday around the capital city include the weekly gathering of the Carson City Toastmasters at Max Casino, a fundraiser at Pizza Factory in Carson City for a lifelong local and coach who has been ill, art showings and more.

Partnership Carson City youth high school program participant Nancy Mejorado, 17, is creating a mock teenage bedroom for parents and community leaders to better know how to spot drugs among youth belongings.

The mock bedroom, which is Mejorado’s Carson High School senior project, opens to the public 2:30-7 p.m. Jan. 22-23 at Partnership’s main office, 1925 N. Carson St.

In the chaos of jolting awake to the crunch of metal, Stacia Nepper was sure she saw her 2-year-old baby fly past her. She froze in panic.
