Friday night’s Blinky Man ride around Carson City had the largest crowd of riders, with participants decked out in wild costumes, bicycles covered in fur and lights, and of course, beer.

Nevada Day weekend got off to a rousing start Friday with the third annual Passport to Downtown in Carson City.

Members of the Carson City community turned out Friday morning for the ribbon to be cut on the downtown Curry Street Improvement Project, a six-month planned construction project that featured wider sidewalks and other pedestrian-friendly improvements.

Eight days before the presidential election of 1864, Nevada became the 36th state in the union. Hello Carson City and welcome to Friday, Nevada Day, Oct. 26, 2018. Today is the observed state holiday, where businesses are open but state and local government offices and schools are closed. Meanwhile, the capital city itself is getting warmed up for a three-day weekend and famed parade that celebrates statehood.

Nevada's celebration of statehood provides for a bevy of activities that showcase the Silver State's best. From contests to exhibits, food and beverages of all kinds, Native dancing, hot air balloons, concerts, a carnival celebration at Mills Park and the famed Nevada Day parade, there is something for everyone throughout the long weekend.

Carson City has one of the best parades in the West to celebrate Nevada's Anniversary of becoming a state on October 31, 1864. Our gold and silver helped Lincoln to win the Civil War and fight against hatred and racism.

After the parade come on down to Carson City Art Gallery, 110 S Curry Street, corner of 2nd, in downtown Carson City. There will be some artists displaying art both within and without the Gallery. Artists will also be coming down to talk with the public about their artwork, techniques, and experience.

The Nevada Day Parade in Carson City begins with the Divisions 1-4 lineup at 8:30 a.m. and Divisions 5-10 lineup at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. start. The parade will end sometime around 2 p.m. The route will be closed from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. Read on for safety information to make your parade day a most memorable one.

Several residents were concerned Vice President Mike Pence's visit to Carson City on parade day, where he plans to rally support for Senator Dean Heller and Attorney General Adam Laxalt, would disrupt Nevada Day scheduled events, but Sheriff Kenny Furlong said that isn't the case.

It’s that time again. Time to validate your passports to downtown Carson City. For the the third year, businesses are once again opening their doors to customers for the Passport to Downtown on Friday.

Gov. Brian Sandoval will lead this year’s Nevada Day parade as the grand marshal. “I’m overwhelmed, and I’m honored,” Sandoval said during an interview in his office. “Nevada Day is an important day to me. I love this state and appreciate this state. It’s given me everything I have.”

Blinky Man has quickly become one of Carson City's most popular events, and is now into its sixth year of existence.

This season's event is the 12th organized ride, and will take place Friday, October 26 beginning at 6 pm with the first stop at the Tap Shack at 112 Rice Street. The event is free and open to the public, and all are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Sunny skies are ahead for Carson City and much of western Nevada for Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018. With events taking shape in time for Friday's Passport to Downtown and Saturday's Nevada Day parade, there's lots of activity brewing this Tuesday including a morning walk and evening hike hosted by Muscle Powered, the annual Carson Tahoe Health Spooktacularl, fundraisers, art showings and more.

The Nevada State Museum and the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City are offering free admission both Friday and Saturday in recognition of Nevada Day.

Hello Carson City, today is Monday, Oct. 22, 2018. As another weekend ends, a short work week begins with Friday officially Nevada Day, a state holiday and a weekend of festivities ahead including Saturday's famed Nevada Day parade.

My name is Colleen Bannister and I was a victim of a violent crime. This is a bit lengthy so I apologize but so is the ride through the justice system. Entering the justice system is nothing like people think. You think it's as easy as you are a victim and the bad guy will be punished.

Every year folks ask what day Halloween trick-or-treating occurs in Carson City.

In any other state and in any other Nevada community, there is no question. Trick-or-treating happens each year on Halloween night, Oct. 31.

Nevada Day and the big parade are just one week away, but first is the annual Carson City Ghost Walk this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in downtown Carson City.

Meals on Wheels Carson City sent up the bat signal today to seek local superheroes to join The Reliables, a team of community-minded folks determined to tackle hunger and loneliness in Carson’s home-bound senior population.

Michael Hohl Motor Company is proud to launch their 5th Annual "Give A Dog A Bone" pet food drive to fill a pickup for the nonprofit organization Pets of the Homeless. They provide pet food and basic emergency veterinary care to the homeless pets in local communities across the United States including Carson City.

Last year’s drive collected almost 1,200 pounds of pet food and supplies valued at more than $3,000.

Michael Hohl Motor Company of Carson City has launched its fourth annual ‘Give A Dog A Bone’ pet food drive to fill a pickup for the nonprofit organization Pets of the Homeless.

The Hop and Mae Adam’s Foundation will temporarily donate several of its downtown Carson City parking lots to help charities raise money over the Nevada Day weekend. The charities will be collecting $5 donations for vehicle parking on Nevada Day in parking lots owned and maintained by the Foundation.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this time every year touches the heart of one of the teachers at CHS: Art teacher Mike Malley, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, due to early detection, has decided to take breast cancer awareness to a new level by putting on a fundraising event Oct. 18 at the Trimmer Barn from 5 to 8 p.m.
