We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

We want to send a big birthday "shoutout" to our outdoor editor emeritus Don Quilici, who turns 85 today. Don and his wife, Elaine, remain active, maintain healthy walks and hikes around the region and have plans for yet another Alaska outback trip this summer. Happy Birthday Q!

Jazz & Beyond Committee Announces 2019 Art Contest

Selected entries in the competition may be used to promote the festival, and the winning entry will be featured on the festival’s advertising poster and program cover.
A T-shirt may also feature one of the designs submitted.
The entry deadline is May 15th, 2019.

Georges Seurat was a French post-Impressionist artist who is best known for the painting technique known pointillism. Have fun spending the day learning about him and practicing in his style. He painted in oils, but you're welcome to paint in any medium you prefer.
