If you haven’t heard yet, Sassafras has returned and is serving up its Eclectic fare in its new location right next to the Carson Hot Springs. Downtown, the Lake Tahoe Brewing Co. will be hosting the Chamber of Commerce for its Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting. Capital Eats inside Westside Pour House (former home of Mo and Sluggo’s) always has some tempting dishes. A little further north on Carson St., Living the Good Life Nightclub and Bistro has live music this evening and a delicious array of options on its menu.
Tuesday, Feb. 3: Things to do in Carson City

Beginning swing dance lessons will be held at El Charro Avitas; go check out their brand new dance floor. Country Line dancing is taught at the 11th Frame lounge at Carson Lanes every Tuesday and Wednesday. Jimmy Mallett and Jack Clifton will be at Living the Good Life Nightclub and Bistro channeling all the swank of the rat pack.

Carson’s own Victory Rollers are looking for fresh meat and are holding a six week class (off roller skates) to show everyone the ropes. They hope to see you tonight at Bordewich Elementary School. Just down the street, the Brewery Arts Center has an Improv workshop starting at 6:30 p.m. If you’ve wanted to attend the First Friday Improv, but have been a little shy, this is a great chance to learn about what goes on and how to jump in the fray. Be warned, you will probably have some fun.

South Lake Tahoe officials celebrate Chateau development renewal with removal of eyesore

Stalled in 2008 amidst the U.S. economic crisis, work resumed on the site after Owens Financial earned unanimous approval for building permits from the South Lake Tahoe City Council in August 2013.
'Chicago' to hit the stage May 9-18 in Carson City

Set in the windy city during the roaring 1920's, the show follows the stories of two murderers - nightclub singer Velma Kelly, who kills her husband and sister when she finds them cheating on her; and aspiring vaudeville singer Roxie Hart, who murders her lover for promising to get her into show biz, only to get her into bed.

Retrofitting a retired grooming machine into a speaker-injected mobile sound system, Heavenly’s DJ cat is the first of its kind creation that its builders say will rival anything seen at a nightclub.
Lake Tahoe ski resorts rejoice with first significant snow of the season

Anticipation for additional snowfall along with summer investments pays winter dividends at Tahoe South this season. Millions of capital expenditures at the three area ski resorts this year will complement revitalization efforts throughout town to create new options on where to stay, play and dine during the 2013-14 season.

Stalled Chateau project in South Lake Tahoe gets new legs with building permit
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 08/18/2013 - 2:24amAfter years of limbo and uncertainty, the Chateau project at the corner of Highway 50 and Stateline in South Lake Tahoe will once again see the light of day.
The city of South Lake Tahoe issued a building permit Friday for the $400 million project, referred to as "the hole" by many locals, which has been stalled since 2008 after financing dried up.
“Thank you to City Council and staff for working extensive hours on getting this project started again and reinvigorating the local economy,” said South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tom Davis.

“You just never know how these storms are going to play out,” said Chief Marketing Officer Andy Chapman of the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association. “But Mother Nature cooperated and we’ve got new snow on the mountains.”

Rubio, who earlier in the day held a rally with Heller in Las Vegas, toured a local business, the Great Basin Brewing Company, before arriving at Mambo’s next to the Atlantis hotel-casino.
Several hundred supporters turned out for the Reno event.
