Top music and comedy acts lined up at Lake Tahoe's MontBleu for 2012
The 2012 line-up of entertainment is guaranteed to Blue ‘em away at Lake Tahoe South’s MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. The New Year’s festivities and beyond continue the trend of popular contemporary artists including: The Cataracs, NOFX, Lucinda Williams, The Expendables, Whitney Cummings, 311 and Wayne Brady. The combo of entertainment, amenities and nightlife has established MontBleu on the virtual map among revelers.
2011 Ends on a High Note…
Hip-hop, indie-pop style DJs including Porter Robinson with Nasty Ways featuring Boreta of Glitch Mob, EPROM & Irieyes are live at Blu Nightclub, Dec. 29. The following night, The Cataracs, American dance indie-pop duo, will bring 'Club Love' to the MontBleu Theater, Friday, Dec. 30. David “Campa” Benjamin Singer-Vine and Niles “Cyrano” Hollowell-Dhar honed their skills in Berkley and earned recognition with their 2010 single, "Club Love," and receiving air play at clubs and a strong radio following. The Cataracs rose to No. 1 on Billboard carts with "Like a G6" written by Singer-Vine/Dhar.
New for kids 21 and older is the exclusive indoor New Year’s Eve Pool Party at Onsen Beach & Nightclub with contests, DJ and poolside aerialists. MontBleu also has its annual Nightclub Party - three-parties-in-one: Opal Ultra Lounge, blu nightclub and the 14,000 sq. ft. convention center for high-spirited revelry to ring in the New Year. Since its opening on Memorial Day Weekend, the Onsen Beach & Nightclub has become one of the hottest spots in Tahoe. No shocker then that the best-dressed poolside attire flock to Onsen’s epicenter - a poolside dance floor adjactnt to the grotto style waterfall. …2012 Starts with a Bang
The band NOFX recognized as a punk genre pioneer will kick off the New Year in the MontBleu Theater, Jan. 3. The L.A. based group has released 11 albums, Coaster their latest in 2009, and have toured the world, several times over.
Lucinda Williams, three-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, honored as "One of the Top 100 Women in Rock" by VH1 and voted "America's Best Songwriter" by TIME Magazine, will take the stage, Jan. 21 with special guest Blake Mills. Her evocative songs are acclaimed as brilliant, breakthrough musical narratives, with her latest release, Blessed (Lost Highway) featuring a dynamic mix of blues, country, and folk-rock styles.
Comedian Whitney Cummings will perform her hilarious stand-up, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012. Cummings a Los Angeles based comedian, actor, writer and producer, was recently named one of VARIETY’s “10 Scribes to Watch.” She stars, writes and executive produces her autobiographical sitcom, “Whitney,” which premiered on NBC this fall. Cummings also co-created and co-wrote with Michael Patrick King, “Two Broke Girls” starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, which premiered on CBS this fall.
The Expendables, a Santa Cruz based-group that blends Reggae, Punk Rock and 80s style dueling guitar solos, are coming Feb. 11. The group was a crowd favorite at the annual summer music festival, Warp Tour in California. With five albums down and countless miles traveled for tours they continue to knck ‘em dead.
Comedian, TV star and singer, Wayne Brady, will have the audience in stitches with his inaugural MontBleu stand-up performance, Feb. 18. Brady is known for his improvisational talents from the show ‘Who’s Line is it Anyway,’ his daytime talk show ‘The Wayne Brady Show’ and ‘Let’s Make a Deal.’
The popular American rock group 311 takes the stage March 6 performing an array of chart-toping songs from their ten albums. Universal Pulse is their latest album, released earlier this year include hit singles ‘Sunset in July’ and ‘Count Me In.’
