NHP: Three transported by helicopters in Highway 50 head-on near Flint Drive in Carson City

A head-on crash on Highway 50 near Flint Drive in Carson City late Thursday morning sent three to the hospital via air ambulance, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

The two-vehicle crash, reported at 11:43 a.m., happened in the eastbound lane and involved a silver 1999 Mitsubishi four-door sedan occupied by a male driver, who crossed the center turn lane and struck the front of a 2010 White Kia Soul sedan, occupied by a male driver and a female passenger, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

NHP identifies Mark Flora of Texas as second victim of June 23 Highway 50 crash in Carson City

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified Mark Allen Flora, 59, of Texas as the second victim of a deadly crash June 23 on Highway 50 in Carson City.

Flora was involved in the head-on crash that also killed 26-year-old Sierra Grace Woodward of Carson City.

The driver of the Nissan Altima believed to be responsible for the crash, Jason William Cloutier, 34, of Carson City, remains in serious condition at Renown Regional Medical Center. Flora was driving a Ford Taurus when he was struck by Cloutier's car which caused it to burst into flames.

Carson City woman Sierra Woodward identified in Sunday's fatal Highway 50 crash

A 26-year-old Carson City woman, Sierra Grace Woodward, has been identified as one of the two victims who died in a fiery car crash Sunday on Highway 50 in Carson City, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 12:36PM: Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a deadly two-car crash on Highway 50 in Carson City early Sunday morning in which a driver was going the wrong way, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Two people died and one remains in critical condition.

The preliminary crash investigation details indicate a blue Nissan Altima, driven by 34-year-old Jason W. Cloutier of Carson City, was traveling the wrong way, or east, in the left westbound travel lane of Highway 50, said NHP Trooper Barbara Stapleton.

Lodi woman identified in Lake Tahoe fatal crash; three Carson City residents injured

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Lodi, Calif., woman as the victim of a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened Sunday on Highway 50 near Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe.

Reyna Vizcaara, 24, died at the scene of the crash, reported at 2:55 p.m., said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. Four others were injured and taken to area hospitals, including three Carson City residents. Two remain hospitalized.

NHP: One dead in Lake Tahoe crash that shut down Highway 50

UPDATE: One person died in a vehicle crash in Zephyr Cove at Lake Tahoe across from the Tahoe Douglas Fire Station Sunday afternoon, confirmed Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Barbara Stapleton.

At least three others were injured, according to NHP dispatchers. Both lanes of Highway 50 were closed.

One victim was taken by ground ambulance to Carson City where they were transported by Calstar. The crash was reported to NHP at 2:55 p.m. at 875 Highway 50. The vehicles involved were blocking both lanes of traffic, according to the dispatcher.

Fourteen-vehicle pileup snarls Reno morning commute on Highway 395

Fourteen vehicles were involved in a crash Wednesday morning on southbound Highway 395 between McCarran and Oddie Boulevard in Reno, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports. One person was injured.

The crash happened at 6:43 a.m. and caused traffic delays. According to NHP Trooper Chuck Allen, the chain of events began when five vehicles were involved in a collision in the left lane of the south bound travel lanes.

Five arrested in Saturday night baby shower melee in Carson City

Four Carson City men and one woman were arrested and face multiple charges after law officers were assaulted when they attempted to break up a loud baby shower party Saturday night.

The Nevada Highway Patrol and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was called in as backup as the party in the 1700 block of North Curry Street grew out of control, with three known gang members pushing, shoving and threatening officers.

With sunny skies, a gentle breeze and plenty of children and their parents, the 10th annual Cops and Kids open house, hosted by the Carson City Sheriff's Office on Saturday, lived up to its reputation as the safest party on the street.

No explosives found at Carson City DMV after search; man jailed on unrelated charges

UPDATE: The Nevada Highway Patrol reports no explosives were found inside the DMV in Carson City after a disgruntled man left two packages inside on Tuesday afternoon.

A bomb squad from Douglas County did a sweep of the DMV and the Department of Public Safety building after it was evacuated, the Nevada HIghway Patrol reports. A 65-year-old Silver City man, Charles Leigh Self, was arrested on unrelated charges following the incident. The man was originally reported to be from Silver Springs.

NHP: Hawthorne man dies in Friday morning rollover

A 22-year-old Hawthorne man died early Friday morning aft the truck he was driving struck a culvert and rolled over, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.

Spencer Allen Hinton died at Mt. Grant Hospital from injuries after he was ejected in the rollover, said Trooper Daniel Lopez. The accident was reported at 1:35 a.m.

Semi overturns blocking I-580 freeway at Highway 50 ramp

UPDATE 11:40AM: A semi truck overturned on the northbound ramp of the Carson City Freeway, I-580 at Highway 50, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. The accident was reported to NHP at 8:27 a.m. and the driver of the truck wasn't hurt.

A preliminary investigation indicates a 2006 GMC vehicle hauler was hauling a 2003 Kaufa vehicle trailer with two vehicles on board, said NHP Trooper Barbara Stapleton.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the Carson City man killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash in on Geiger Grade.

Kyle Banko, 24, was killed was riding his sport bike on Geiger Grade toward Reno from Virginia City on Saturday afternoon, the NHP reports.

NHP recognizes employees from Carson City and Reno

Nevada Highway Patrol employees from Carson City and Reno were honored Thursday in a ceremony. Each year several employees assigned to the NHP Northern Command West region are selected and recognized for their exemplary professionalism and service to the citizens and visitors of Nevada.

This year's ceremony, held in Reno at the NHP office, was to name 2012 award recipients. Carson City employees recognized are James Simpson, picked as Sergeant of the Year and Chesa Emery, selected as Dispatcher of the Year.

Hit and run victim identified as John 'Randy' Boggs, a Carson City contractor

The name of the victim who died Friday morning in a pedestrian hit and run incident has been identified as John Boggs of Carson City, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

Boggs, 46, was married and had a son in high school. Boggs, who went by "Randy" was the owner of Randy Boggs Construction and was a general contractor, his wife told Carson Now.

His wife, who didn't want to be identified at this time, said the family is hoping the person who hit and killed her husband will turn himself into authorities.
