Hit and run victim identified as John 'Randy' Boggs, a Carson City contractor

The name of the victim who died Friday morning in a pedestrian hit and run incident has been identified as John Boggs of Carson City, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.
Boggs, 46, was married and had a son in high school. Boggs, who went by "Randy" was the owner of Randy Boggs Construction and was a general contractor, his wife told Carson Now.
His wife, who didn't want to be identified at this time, said the family is hoping the person who hit and killed her husband will turn himself into authorities.
"Hopefully they catch the guy who did this," she said. Boggs' also added that she and her family find the comments made on Facebook by Carson City residents extremely upsetting to the family. She said her husband made a mistake crossing the street "where he shouldn't have been crossing the street," she said.
"People don't know my husband and are saying some very terrible things," she said.
The incident happened at 6:33 am Friday morning. A witness said the vehicle involved in the incident an older model gray or silver-colored Toyota 4-Runner SUV with a lifted suspension kit, black wheels and tinted windows. The driver failed to stop to render any aid and fled the scene, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen.
The witness told NHP the driver, possibly a male, applied the brakes when he saw the pedestrian attempting to cross the eastbound lanes from the north side of the highway.
He further stated the SUV, that was also traveling east, struck Boggs in the right lane. Boggs initially ended up on the hood of the Toyota before rolling or falling off the vehicle approximately 40 yards east of the area of impact. The driver of the Toyota did not stop and fled the area while the witness remained at the scene until emergency personnel arrived a few minutes later.
The NHP is asking the public for assistance in locating the driver and vehicle of this tragedy. If you are the driver who was involved, please come forward and speak to the investigators about this case.
