Pedestrian struck and killed in Carson City identified as Celeste Santens
The victim of Sunday's pedestrian accident has been identified as 27-year-old Celeste Santens of Carson City, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
NHP's Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the accident that happened in Carson City on Highway 50 near Airport Road which claimed the life of Santens. She was struck and killed by a black 1999 Ford Expedition SUV as she attempted to walk across the 4-lane highway around 11 pm Sunday evening, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.
The driver of the SUV, 48-year-old Cynthia A. Munroe of Dayton, fled the crash scene and was located a short time later in Dayton. She submitted to a voluntary blood draw before being booked into the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility for leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death-a felony-as well as operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, Allen said. Her total bail was $10,000 and she posted bond and was released from jail early yesterday morning.
