CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles announced Thursday an additional extension for expired or soon-to-be expired driver’s licenses and ID cards and new, limited Saturday hours for new Nevada residents. The DMV is continuing to find new ways to serve the public while operating under COVID-19 safety protocols.

DMV to reopen Tuesday after fiber optic cable cut causes outage

“We’re taking this brief pause to re-evaluate our protocols. Even though our examiners have been wearing personal protective equipment, the driver and the examiner sit in close proximity during a test. We must continue to put the safety of the public and our employees first,” said DMV Director Julie Butler.

CARSON CITY — In an effort to bring relief to Nevada motorists affected by the closures related to COVID-19, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak and the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles have issued an automatic 90-day extension for expiring driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations and other DMV documents. Governor Sisolak signed a Declaration of Emergency authorizing the extension March 20.

DMV to host town hall meetings in Carson City, Reno regarding Real ID requirements

YERINGTON — Lyon County Code Enforcement held a meeting last week to address the problem of illegal dumping countywide. The Illegal Dumping Work Group, which represents a number of agencies and nonprofit organizations, will meet on a quarterly basis to continue collaboration and cooperation in its efforts to clean up areas where illegal dumping frequently happens.

Carson City DMV warns against email scam

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is warning motorists about a speeding ticket scam that has surfaced in the Silver State.

Hackers are sending out emails, purportedly from the DMV, about alleged traffic violations that can only be paid online with a credit card.

The emails demand payment of a fine within 72 hours and contain links for “EasyPay” or to contest the citation.

The Nevada DMV does not issue traffic citations or collect fines, according to Director Julie Butler.

Nevada-based contracting firm CORE Construction is expanding its influence in the Reno community with updates to key staff and impactful projects.

The firm announced the promotion of Travis Coombs to Vice President of their Northern Nevada operations.
