Marketing plan to help sell Nugget Project?

The text was posted by Michael Douglass, the author of a Nevada Appeal guest column in favor of the project. He is also the brother of Tammy Westergard, who has been deeply involved in the project, first with the Office of Business Development, and now with the Carson City Library.

The story begins two week ago when Guy Farmer wrote a rather harsh column that slammed the Nugget Project. In response, last week there was a guest column by Michael Douglass criticizing Farmer's take on the subject.

Nevada Appeal to return to almost-daily status in September

Our sources say this is related to the elections, which makes a lot of sense. It would be quite a hardship to not have a paper on Election Day, which in years past has be chock full of political ads.
Clear Creek Road closing to the public

This has been a long-simmering issue. You can't really blame the residents, who are trying to protect themselves from liability if someone gets hurt on this private road, which provides access to popular hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and picnic areas.
Carson City man arrested after allegedly punching girlfriend, urinating on living room floor
Submitted by editor on Thu, 08/12/2010 - 1:05amA Carson City man faces a gross misdemeanor domestic battery charge after he allegedly urinated and spit on his living room floor and then punched his girlfriend in the chest.
The 31-year-old unemployed man was booked on suspicion of second offense domestic battery and was jailed on $5,000 bail.
According to the arrest narrative, deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Hawaii Circle in reference to a report of a domestic battery.
Carson Middle School principal loses job over DUI

New Michael Hohl auto dealerships open

Looks like the Nevada Appeal missed it as well, at least as far as their website is concerned. Hopefully the addition will add some new sales tax revenue to Carson City's coffers.

Carson City Sheriff sued by former deputy for defamation
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 05/18/2010 - 2:39pmCarson City Sheriff Ken Furlong and the city are being sued for $10,000 by a former deputy sheriff who is alleging defamation, invasion of privacy, false light and emotional distress. Download the PDF of the lawsuit here.
The plaintiff, Paula Andrews, was the subject of an internal investigation involving falsifying documents and grand larceny in December 2008. According to the lawsuit, the investigation concluded the allegations were unfounded. Nevertheless, the plaintiff was later "constructively discharged."

Submitted by admin on Sat, 05/01/2010 - 9:47amThe Nevada Appeal has uncovered a few new tidbits about Nugget Project consultant Mark Lewis.
Following the piece I wrote on Lewis this week, the Appeal found a grand jury report dealing with Lewis' big project developments as city manager of Stockton, Calif. The report showed that costs associated with development of the the Stockton ballpark and events center swelled from an estimate of $75 million to more than $120 million, and placed the blame for this on Lewis and the lack of oversight by the city's elected officials.
