Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. Heading into the first Thursday in March and we're looking at continued sunshine with a high near 70. Happenings lined up include a Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, auditions for the Carson City Follies show in July, trivia night at Bella Vita Bistro, a wood design workshop at Rustically Divine, an artist reception for Galen Brown and Emily Kray at Western Nevada College and a Muscle Powered afternoon hike. Nevada State Fair held at Mills Park June 4 - 7

The thaw continues around the capital city as we head into Tuesday with highs expected in the mid-50s. Events lined up feature morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, Carson City TRIAD will give a presentation at the senior center on scams targeting older adults. It's Your City: Concert for center that helps Carson City homeless to feature Tom Petty tribute with Michael Furlong Band

In this edition of It's Your City, host Cortney Bloomer talks with DeeDee Foremaster, director of Do Drop In, a local center in Carson City that provides services for the homeless.

The two discuss its "A Face in the Crowd" fundraiser that will be happening this Saturday, March 7, a Fuji Park featuring the music of Tom Petty presented by nationally renowned tribute music sensation The Michael Furlong Band.

Carson City community radio KNVC 95.1 continues to grow as it enters third year on the air

Carson City’s own community radio station, KNVC, has been quietly churning out locally curated music, news, information and talk shows for about three years now, and they’re only gaining speed as time goes on.

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.

Carson City Leisure Hour Club recognizes Nevada State Prison Preservation Society

Every year Carson City’s Leisure Hour Club recognizes local not-for-profit groups that excel in supporting the greater Carson City community. On Feb. 19 the club donated $500 to the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society. Glen Whorton, President of the NSPPS, accepted the donation and said that the donation will contribute to making the prison open to the public.
