The monthly Downtown Carson City Wine Walk takes place Saturday followed by a performance from Tom Petty and Rod Stewart tribute bands during The Do Drop In’s “A Face in the Crowd” homeless fundraiser at Fuji Park. St. Teresa School will host its 17th annual Crab Feed Fundraiser. Combined with comedy at the Carson Nugget and Brewery Arts Center, the Carson City region is in store for a busy weekend. Happenings lined up include a Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting, auditions for the Carson City Follies show in July, trivia night at Bella Vita Bistro, a wood design workshop at Rustically Divine, an artist reception for Galen Brown and Emily Kray at Western Nevada College and a Muscle Powered afternoon hike. Events lined up feature morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, Carson City TRIAD will give a presentation at the senior center on scams targeting older adults. Also on tap, the Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents a Jimmy Stewart favorite "You Can't Take it With You" at the BAC; if you love music, there's Big-Band Jazz X2 at the Carson City Community Center, and you can join Carson Now as it celebrates its 10th anniversary at Living the Good Life.

Carson City community radio KNVC 95.1 continues to grow as it enters third year on the air

KNVC runs out of the historic Adams House on North Minnesota Street and, at present, boasts 31 volunteers into its broadcasting family.
Carson City Leisure Hour Club recognizes Nevada State Prison Preservation Society

On Feb. 19 the club donated $500 to the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society. Glen Whorton, President of the NSPPS, accepted the donation and said that the donation will contribute to making the prison open to the public.

Piper’s Opera House bravely opened for the third time in 1885 after burning to the ground twice before. Never has there been a gathering space in Virginia City for events such as melodramatic theater, political rallies, boxing matches, roller skating, and elegant balls.
