Carson City, Nev. — Under a new requirement by the state of Nevada, the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) will be required for all Nevada seventh graders or new students entering school in grades 7-12. The requirement takes effect beginning July 1, 2017, in time for the 2017-18 school year.

A Carson City man was arrested Friday evening at 6:28 p.m. in the area of Silver Sage and Clearview for felony possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, misdemeanor hit-and-run with property damage, misdemeanor failure to stop at the signal of a law enforcement officer, and misdemeanor failure to obey a traffic control device, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

A 57-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday and faces multiple charges including burglary, preventing a victim from reporting a crime and domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office acted on several outstanding misdemeanor warrants served to multiple individuals Friday between Carson City and Reno. Warrants were served out of Carson City First Judicial District Court and Carson City Justice Court, respectively.

Detectives from Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Douglas County Sheriff’s Office worked a joint investigation Wednesday involving multiple residential burglaries between the two counties. Three men were arrested as a result of the investigation, a law enforcement captain said.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in reporting suspicious activity. Within the the past nine days, three residential burglaries were reported to have happened during the middle of the day.

The Healthy Community Coalition’s monthly cooking class and demo features Mediterranean food and is open to all comers. You’ll find the ice rink open at 10 a.m.

Several Carson City agencies are asking community members to join in a citywide effort Monday to donate clothing and basic needs necessities for homeless veterans as part of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

A 33 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night on suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and for child endangerment, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy arrest report said.

According to the recent CDC Weekly Influenza Surveillance Report, the number of reported flu cases in the region — Carson City, Douglas and Lyon counties — has shown a significant increase.

Carson City and Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, will offer a warming shelter Friday through Sunday in anticipation of freezing temperatures expected through the weekend.
