Carson City arrests: Jail inmate faces battery with a deadly weapon charge
A 33-year-old Carson City jail inmate was booked Tuesday for felony suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested was Eric Anthony Mathews of Henderson, Nev. According to the jail report, video surveillance shows the suspect advancing on another inmate, taking his arm, slamming it into a steel jail cell door, and pressing on the door. Mathews is then seen opening the door and taking a swing at the inmate. Bail: $30,000.
In other bookings:
— Three people were arrested early Wednesday morning on multiple charges following a traffic stop in the area of North Carson and Long Street, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested at 2:45 a.m. were Shawn Michael Siney of West Monroe, Louisiana, for a fugitive from justice warrant and suspicion of providing false information to avoid prosecution; Matthew Lee Blackmun, 30, of Atwater, Calif., was arrested at 2:34 a.m. for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and four misdemeanor charges: possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, driving on a suspended or a revoked license, no proof of insurance and suspended registration.
A 22-year-old Atwater, Calif., woman was also arrested at 2:34 a.m. for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the arrest report, the vehicle the three were in was stopped after a deputy confirmed it going 38 mph in a 25 mph zone. The vehicle also came back with suspended registration.
During the investigation officers recovered hypodermic needles, spoons with burn residue and cotton balls commonly used for narcotic use. A “tooter straw” which is commonly used for inhaling methamphetamine, was dropped to the ground by the woman. Also found on Blackmun was a clear plastic baggie containing a gram of methamphetamine.
Siney presented a deputy with false identification. His true identity revealed a felony warrant for his arrest out of Texas. He is being held without bail on the fugitive from justice warrant, awaiting extradition.
— A 36-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 8:29 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Nevada Street for misdemeanor suspicion of second offense domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, deputies arrived at a residence to investigate a domestic battery and learned from the victim that his wife had been drinking and started a fight.
The suspect didn’t have injuries consistent with what she told officers, changing her story several times. The male had injuries to his face, arms and his shirt was torn. The woman was determined to be the primary aggressor. The woman had a prior domestic battery conviction in 2015. Bail: $5,137.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man was booked Tuesday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Feb. 17 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $400.
— A 23-year-old Carson City man was booked Tuesday, 7:07 p.m. for a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant issued March 2 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 23-year-old Dayton man was booked into Carson City jail on Tuesday, 10:28 p.m. for a misdemeanor violation of a suspended sentence warrant issued Jan. 19 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 25-year-old transient was booked Tuesday, 11 a.m. into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued March 16 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000.
