Wine Walk smiles not dulled by the cold

Wine Walkers look forward to the first Saturday every month, where friends and family meet in downtown Carson City and delight each other with warm smiles that make forgetting the frigid temperatures a little easier.

It’s the first weekend of the year, and so it’s time for the downtown wine walk. The monthly tradition is a great way to meet others from around town. Kids will want to head to the Community Center for the Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot. The best shooters in the state will advance to the national competition in Chicago for a chance at scholarship money.

Have you been naughty or nice this year? You’ll have no problem finding Jolly Old St. Nick this weekend. At Debug Computers where, in exchange for a donation to Holiday with a Hero, you can get a photo with the man in red. The Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to grab a candy cane, some hot cocoa, and tell him what you’d like to find under the tree. Photographs with Santa are available at the Carson Mall Wednesday through Sunday. Genoa’s annual Breakfast with Santa has three seatings beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The countdown to Turkey Day has begun, and living in Carson City gives us plenty to be thankful for: Beautiful views, our own deer herd, great shops, yummy restaurants, talented actors, artists, and craftsmen, and wonderful people. For something less permanent, drop off a turkey at one of the contenders in the Salvation Army’s Battle of the Bars. Giving your time is valuable, too. Salvation Army seeks support for teens, most often overlooked at holidays

The Salvation Army serving Carson City and Douglas County is seeking gifts for boys and girls ages 13 to 17 during their annual holiday toy drive.

Even with 82 locations around Carson City and Douglas County, including 27 of the Salvation Army’s ubiquitous red-kettle bell-ringers, Lt. Mark Cyr of the Salvation Army said teenagers are the most often overlooked population during holiday gift giving.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church in downtown Carson City at Telegraph and Division streets offers its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday November 14 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. This year's bazaar features crafters who won a total of 19 ribbons at the 2015 Nevada State Fair. One of those crafters has created this year's queen-sized quilt in a traditional English Ivy block pattern in tones of red, white, and blue to be raffled.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Accomplice arrested in burglary, credit card fraud case

An investigation that led to the arrest of a Carson City man on burglary and credit card fraud charges expanded Tuesday with a 25-year-old accomplice booked on felony charges, a Carson City sheriff’s detective said.

Chelsea Cribbins of Carson City was booked on charges of burglary, credit card fraud, conspiracy to use a credit card and conspiracy to obtain money, possession of stolen property and obtaining money under false pretenses.

Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on felony burglary, credit card fraud charges

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on multiple felony charges of burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card after allegedly breaking into a home, stealing credit cards, jewelry and other property and then using the credit cards at businesses, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
