I don’t mean to make this hard on you, but you have some decisions to make. All day, all night, all weekend long, there are numerous activities throughout our area. Take a good look at the list, grab your friends, family, and kids, and have a great weekend. The Experimental Aircraft Association is hosting the Ford Tri-Motor this weekend, and has Young Eagles flights for the kids: registration and orientation is at 8 a.m. Head over to Eagle Valley Golf for free family golf day.

The weather app on my phone says that it’s supposed to be a sunny weekend hitting a high around 91 degrees. That sounds like summer to me! Get out and enjoy our valley and the surrounding towns, there will be plenty of good times. Carson Valley Days has begun in our neighbor to the south, complete with carnival at Lampe Park. Tonight, welcome a new exhibit in the CCAI Gallery at the Courthouse: a reception for the artists of ‘Industrial Arts’ begins at 5 p.m. Meet the Journey of Hope bike riders at Western Nevada College; plenty of activities for everyone.

The Carson City Historical Society's 2015 Garden Tour is Saturday, June 13. This walking and driving tour includes some very special Carson City homes and gardens.

The self-guided tour begins at 11 a.m. and will run until 4 p.m. More than a dozen carefully selected homes and gardens, some new to the tour, some old favorites, will be available for public viewing for this special event. We are pleased to announce that the Krebs-Petersen House will be opened for your admiration. This was the location of John Wayne's last movie, "The Shootist."

I’m hoping everyone had a great weekend. Now that we’ve moved into June, the events will just keep coming. Blinky Man and the Historical Society Garden Tour are coming up on Saturday. Fathers’ Day weekend brings the Pow Wow at Stewart Indian School and the Taste of Downtown. The last weekend of the month welcomes Battleborn Brews, Bikes, and Bubbly with the Twelve Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge to downtown. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, though. We still need to survive Monday.

I’m not going to tell you what to do, but if you’ll accept a suggestion, find yourself a hamburger. It’s National Hamburger Day during National Hamburger Month, so you might as well celebrate at the Experimental Aircraft Association's weekly burger lunch. If you like random trivia, head over to Alatte Coffee and Wine Bar in the Nugget for their trivia night. Or burn off that burger with some salsa dancing at El Charro Avita or country line dancing at Beercade.

Train buffs and dignitaries gathered at the Nevada Rail Road Museum under rainy skies, Saturday for the unveiling of the Glenbrook, a historic locomotive that once hauled lumber from Lake Tahoe sawmills to Spooner Summit.

“Nowhere else can you see an event like this,” said Peter Barton, Administrator of the Division of Museums and History. “We’ve done research before we started restoring, we spent months with historians and researchers. The locomotive has been painstakingly restored, no where else can you find a locomotive that has had so much time spent working on it.”

Get over the mid-week hump with some live music. Dave Leather will entertain with some lunchtime Americana and Blues at Comma Coffee. The weekly Jazz Jam at Sassafras enjoys the return of the talented Tristan Selzler. Popular duo, Tany Jane, plays at Living the Good Life. Enjoy Joe LaChew at Z Bistro or Terry and Craig at Glen Eagles during dinner. The Carson High School Choir is at Bob Boldrick Theater this evening for their end of year performance.

Do you want to meet an author or play with clay? Luckily, both of those are available to you today. The Friends of the Carson City Library are hosting Rockin’ Rev. Ken Haskins and Carson City Pottery needs help getting ready for an Empty Bowls bowl making event. Dancing shoes are perfect for salsa dance lessons at El Charro’s, but you may want cowboy boots for line dance lessons at Beercade. Practice those newly learned dance moves at Living the Good Life: DJ Bobby G is featuring Latin music. Sing to your heart’s content at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar or at the Feisty Goat Pub: it’s karaoke night.

Poetry, art, and theater today in Carson City. All day long, the CCAI exhibit, Tuscarora, will be visible in the Sierra Room as the Board of Supervisors conduct their meeting. Head over to the Legislature for ‘RenoScapes,’ the final SENarts ‘Works of Artists’ program this season; check out the LXS Exhibit by artist Dawn Dot Star while you are there, it will be changing next week. Teens are invited to learn some acting and improv skills at the Carson City Library this afternoon. Nevada Arts Council Fellowship winners, Laura Wetherington and Jared Stanley, will be sharing their poetry and honored at a reception today at Western Nevada College.

Since the early 1980s, May has been a month for celebrating historic preservation and archaeology in Nevada. Agencies and organizations have teamed to spread awareness of archaeological and historic preservation efforts throughout the state and encourage both residents and visitors to explore and learn about Nevada’s significant archaeological and historical treasures.

Looks like our rain and snow dances finally did the trick, but don’t let the weather scare you away from downtown this weekend. The Carson City Historical Society is presenting a "Sunday Afternoon Tea" on February 8 from 1 to 3 p.m at the Foreman-Roberts House, 1207 N. Carson Street. Chef Mauricio will have an all new menu. The tea is a fund raiser for the completion of the interior of the carriage house located behind the Foreman-Roberts House. Reservations can be made by calling D.D. The "Tea" will feature a new menu by Chef Mauricio Leon of Capital Eats, which is located in the Westside Pour House in Carson City. Chef Mauricio has over 15 years of experience and has a passion for creating delicious foods and unique menus, using locally grown produce when they are available.

Head down to the Friends of the Carson City Library’s book store tonight to hear author Mark S. Bacon speak about his newest book, Death in Nostalgia City.

A talk about the freeway art in Carson City by Mary Fischer, author of Carson City History in Motion is tonight, as well; sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society, it will be held at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville. If you need to sing your heart out, check out karaoke at the Feisty Goat Pub or at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar.

Hello, Carson City! The holiday season is in full swing with tree lightings, craft fairs, Santa sightings all around the area. Every week, I create a list of the fun stuff and events going on around the Carson City area for my Facebook page, I love Carson City. I follow the pages of local businesses and organizations, search website calendars, keep my ear to the ground, and compile a list of anything and everything going on in this community.

Local authors, Sandie La Nae and Mary Randall will be book signing and selling their books at Comma Coffee, at the Carson City Wine Walk on Saturday, Dec. 6. Mary Randall writes children's adventure books, and Sandie is an author of Historic-Paranormal writings. (Sandie's books are supported by the Nevada Historical Society).

Many people in our area have Facebook accounts, but not everyone, so I am pleased to bring you the event list that is featured on my Facebook page, I love Carson City.

Local Author, Sandie La Nae was asked by the Nevada Historical Society in Reno, for her newest book, "Weird Reno," to be instituted to the online (primary sources) data base system of the N.H.S. “Research Library.”
Co-written with N.H.S. docent and historian, Arline La Ferry, La Nae states, "This is a universally true honor!"
"Weird Reno" is full of historic accounts from the mid-1800s to present date, as well as interesting and strange happenings through Reno's past.

The Foundation for the Betterment of Carson City Parks and Recreation will present Special Recognition Awards for year 2014 recipients in a brief ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. at the monument at the entrance to the Marv Teixeira Pavilion (formerly Pony Express Pavilion) in Mills Park. The public is invited to attend this free, outdoor event.

The awards will be presented in the following categories:

The last SWEET SIPPIN' SUNDAY is right around the corner. The leaves are turning and the weather is supposed to be beautiful, so be sure to mark your calendar now for this Sunday, Oct. 5, 1-4pm.

Nearly 30 years ago, the Nevada Arts Council and its partners created a radio series that would chronicle the fabric of Nevada folk heritage from experts in local arts that include bit and spur making, the language of gaming, neon glass blowing, cradleboarding and more. In celebration of the state’s 150th birthday, the full 13-episode series “Home Means Nevada 1986: Folklife in the Silver State” has been digitized.

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of September. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Sept. 15 through 30.

Beatles Flashback, a Beatles tribute band formed in 2006, will be on stage tonight, Wednesday, at the Carson City Community Center as part of the Jazz & Beyond Carson City Music Festival.

While most people are familiar with Beatles tribute bands that dress up to look like the Fab Four, Beatles Flashback, a group that formed in Sonoma County, Calif., and is now based in Reno, focuses instead on recreating the music that is heard on the original recordings.
