Events around Carson City area for Tuesday, Sept. 17

Heading into Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, events around the capital city include a TRIAD presentation for Carson City residents on the new Smart911 system, a discussion of the sheriff's office Mobile Outreach Safety Team at a meeting of the Carson City Republican Women organization, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a Fat Tuesday Business Networking event at J's Bistro in Dayton, family craft night at the library and more.

Full Moon Sunset Hike Saturday hosted by Carson City Parks and Rec

The Carson City Parks and Recreation department will host an interpretive hike tonight, September 14 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

This is the third annual Full Moon Sunset Hike. Hikers will be starting from the Koontz Lane Trailhead at Prison Hill and will be hiking up to the top to watch the Sunset over Carson.

A break will be had to rest and take photos and appreciate the sunset. Later, attendees will hike back down under the full moon.

Hikers will need to bring layers, close-toed shoes, a flashlight or headlamp, and plenty of water.

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Carson City deputies make drug, battery arrests over weekend

A 65-year-old transient man was arrested in the 1200 block of N. Carson Street Friday night for alleged possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a contempt of court warrant.

Time: Meet at Hwy 50 Park and Ride, just west of the intersection of Hwy 395 S and Hwy 50 W, at 8:00am. We'll carpool to Incline Village to walk on the recently-opened multi-use pathway: Tahoe East Shore Trail.

Where: The three-mile Tahoe East Shore Trail, on the south side of Incline Village. We will park at Tunnel Creek and then walk south towards the lookout at Memorial Point. The entire trail is paved.

Carson City is a very special place and, as the city continues to grow and prosper, many are looking to relocate here for a myriad of reasons.

Carson City student to refresh 'C' on C-Hill as part of Eagle Scout, senior projects

CARSON CITY — Gabe Crossman, a 17-year-old senior at Carson High School and member of Troop 45, will be refreshing the “C" on C-Hill for his Eagle Scout and senior class projects Saturday, September 7, at 7 a.m. Seniors from the Class of 2019 moved the rocks to form “TJ3" in memory of their classmate Timmy Jones.
