Roadside stations for inspections and decontaminations of motorized boats and watercraft entering Lake Tahoe are officially opening for the 2018 boating season.

Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife wants to remind sportsmen who have not yet applied for this year’s big game draw that the deadline is fast approaching. All applications must be received by 11 p.m. on Monday, April 16.

Congratulations go out to the Mile High Jazz Band; they’ll be celebrating 17 years of monthly performances during tonight’s gig at Living the Good Life. If you’d like to learn more about drones, those little flying robots, then tonight’s installment of the Sierra Nevada Forum is for you. They’ll be covering the versatility of drones, and fully expect you to be surprised. Chili’s Restaurant welcomes Mother-son duos for a night of quality time. With soggy weather here, some cancellations are inevitable. One thing you can count on, however, is the monthly Downtown Business Association’s wine walk; it’s a rain, shine, or blizzard event. Stay dry and well-fed with the Kiwanis annual BINGO Spaghetti Feed at the Carson Senior Center. Hello fellow anglers. I have some great news for Nevada anglers. This year the Nevada Department of Wildlife has restructured their licensing. There is no need to get a second rod stamp or purchase a trout stamp when purchasing your 2018 fishing license.

The Carson Fly Fishing Club is offering a beginning Fly Tying Academy on April 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Airport Terminal Building – 2600 College Parkway, Carson City.

The purpose of the class is to learn basic techniques of tying different flies, no experience necessary. The flies for this class will be Wooly Worm, Chamois Nymph, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Little Yellow Stone Fly, Adams and Zonker. This will be the 19th year that the Carson Fly Fishing Club has presented this class free to the public. Class size is limited.

The week winds down, but the happenings in Carson City are gearing up. Kids are going to have a fun time at the Carson Montessori Carnival Night. Help Relay for Life kick-off this year’s theme during their ‘Surfing for a Cure’ Luau at the Casino Fandango; you’ll have the opportunity to sign up your team, as well. No whining allowed, just fun times, at the Governor’s Mansion during tonight’s 'Let’s Wine Together' silent auction and wine fundraiser for the Carson High Band program.

This Wednesday, join our students and community. Come out and enjoy a night of hands-on fun. Make a paper airplane, a gumdrop and toothpick bridge, build with LEGOS and use robotic arms.

Hello fellow anglers, it feels like spring time outside. We are having a strange and different weather pattern from last year are we not? But a reminder here that it is still winter. The weather temperatures outside may be comfortable, but the water temperatures are very frigid.

An iron-based naturally occurring bacteria was discovered Monday in Baily Pond at Fuji Park, forcing Carson City Parks and Rec officials to temporarily close the popular south Carson City fishing spot.

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Division of Tourism, also known as Travel Nevada, has released its 2018 Visitor’s Guide, available at visitors centers, airports, and hotels throughout the state. Wayne Pershing McAnally, a native Roseville resident, went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Born to Dr. James F. and Marie (Gold) McAnally on September 28,1938. Graduated from Roseville High School, Class of 1957. He graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, receiving the Mu Sigma Alpha outstanding Academic Proficiency Award. He was very active in his community and to name a few, he was a member of Masonic Lodge #222, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Roseville Cemetery Board of Directors.

Hello fellow anglers, it is that time of year to celebrate the new year and the Topaz Lake opening day fishing season. On Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 at precisely 6:46 a.m. will be the official starting time for anglers to begin fishing on Topaz Lake.

Hello fellow anglers. I am happy to say, the winter solstice has come and gone. Meaning, each day now brings one minute longer of daylight. But as we all know, that does not mean it will get any warmer soon. Down here in the Minden and Carson Valleys we've experienced an average of 7 to 10 degree mornings.
