Hold onto your hat, Carson City, we’re in for one heck of a weekend. It’ll be cowboy hats and pioneer bonnets in Genoa for Western Heritage Day. Keep an eye out for Mark Twain, plenty of music, and fun for all. Leis are the preferred accessory for Lei Day at the Nevada State Museum where you’ll be treated to Polynesian surprises and free admission. With three local theater groups performing this weekend, you’re sure to find a performance that’s right up your alley. Read on and be prepared to be bombarded with options.

Lake Tahoe roadside boat inspection stations open for 2018 season

Roadside stations for inspections and decontaminations of motorized boats and watercraft entering Lake Tahoe are officially opening for the 2018 boating season.

What better way to celebrate Earth Day and Earth Week than gorgeous weather that you just can’t help but enjoy. Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

Nevada Wildlife: Big game tag application deadline is Monday

Hello fellow anglers. I have some great news for Nevada anglers. This year the Nevada Department of Wildlife has restructured their licensing. There is no need to get a second rod stamp or purchase a trout stamp when purchasing your 2018 fishing license.

Fly Tying Academy

The Carson Fly Fishing Club is offering a beginning Fly Tying Academy on April 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, and 25, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Airport Terminal Building – 2600 College Parkway, Carson City.

The purpose of the class is to learn basic techniques of tying different flies, no experience necessary. The flies for this class will be Wooly Worm, Chamois Nymph, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Little Yellow Stone Fly, Adams and Zonker. This will be the 19th year that the Carson Fly Fishing Club has presented this class free to the public. Class size is limited.

An iron-based naturally occurring bacteria was discovered Monday in Baily Pond at Fuji Park, forcing Carson City Parks and Rec officials to temporarily close the popular south Carson City fishing spot.

Wayne Pershing McAnally, a native Roseville resident, went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Born to Dr. James F. and Marie (Gold) McAnally on September 28,1938. Graduated from Roseville High School, Class of 1957. He graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, receiving the Mu Sigma Alpha outstanding Academic Proficiency Award. He was very active in his community and to name a few, he was a member of Masonic Lodge #222, Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and the Roseville Cemetery Board of Directors.
