Local first responders from around the Carson City region from Central Lyon County to Reno and Sparks areas, will be better equipped to keep community members safe thanks to grants from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center in partnership with Carson City Foursquare Church at Mark Twain Elementary School are hosting a "Back To School Drive-thru Bash" for all elementary school students needing school supplies and whose families are unable to afford purchasing those items themselves.

Here is a partial list of local restaurants that are offering take out and/or delivery during the COVID-19 shutdown. We will be adding more soon. “We did our free clinic at the Community Center, and what a turnout we had; around 100 participants showed up, we had a ton of fun, and we even had high school varsity players help coach the clinic as well” said Carson High School Varsity Basketball coach Jordan Glover.

More springlike weather around the capital city is ahead Ash Wednesday with a daytime high near 65. Events include a Real ID town hall meeting at the Carson City DMV, the economic impact of pro soccer in Northern Nevada will be featured at NNDA's Business Edge at Casino Fandango, Carson City Schools offers the first of three pre-kindergarten programs for parents and will also host a separate strategic plan meeting. Meanwhile, Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness hosts a yoga class, plus Salsa dancing at Yaple's Ballroom, country and pop dancing at Carson Lanes, a safety workshop for women and more.

Heading into Tuesday, activities and events lined up around the capital city include morning and evening walks hosted by Muscle Powered, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs, a regular meeting of the Carson City School Board, the Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show at its Brewery Arts Center gallery, Carson Victory Rollers present a new skater program, plus classes at Yaple's Ballroom and more.

Join the Carson City, Douglas County Relay for Life team on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Firehouse Subs, Highway 50, in Carson City for a "Dine and Donate" event.

From 5 to 9 p.m., Firehouse Subs will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. FireHouse Subs is located at 3120 US-50, Carson City.

An injury accident was reported to dispatch at 2:05 p.m. Friday in front of Firehouse Subs on Highway 50.

First responders are enroute to the accident currently.

Motorists should seek alternative routes or use caution while in the area.

It’s reported that a child fell from a vehicle, but the child is reported to be fine.

The Orchestra Program of Carson City School District is holding its Holiday Concert Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center. Just the idea of a concert in Carson City is exciting enough, but it gets even better because this musical event will cost audiences absolutely nothing except a little time and effort getting there. Admission is free.

We're days away from our celebration of statehood and the weather around the capital city couldn't be more, well, Nevada-like with daytime highs near 70 and sunny skies. Carson City area activities ahead for Wednesday, Oct. 23 feature an economic roundup presented by the Northern Nevada Development Authority at Casino Fandango, Carson Tahoe's annual "Spooktacular" family event, Firehouse Subs will host our local Search and Rescue for a dinner fundraiser; Sierra Nevada Journeys and Nature Conservancy will present family STEM night in Genoa, plus art showings and more. While volunteers of the Carson City Sheriff’s Search and Rescue unit are available 24-hours a day to help those in need, this Wednesday evening Firehouse Subs will be making itself available to assist the Search and Rescue unit with a fundraiser.

Join Carson City Sheriff’s Search and Rescue at Firehouse Subs on Wednesday night, Oct. 23 from 5 to 9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from the meal sales will go to benefit CCSSAR, helping to fund ongoing training and equipment costs. Enjoy some great food and talk with the SAR team. Carson City SAR willl also have a few of its vehicles on display for those wishing to learn more about what they do.

Friday Sept. 13, no bad luck on this day, beginning at 1:18 p.m. was an assembly in the Big Gym during the last class of the day as an introduction to CHS’ Happiest Homecoming on Earth. Leadership students led the assembly with the first activity being the introduction of the Homecoming King and Queen candidates who made their grand entrance onto the floor.
