LAKE TAHOE — The “South Shore Summer Series” launches the season with a weekend of live music, culinary delights, sternwheeler race, concerts and competitions stretching across the shore from Camp Richardson Resort on the west to Zephyr Cove on the east. Carson City Chamber Singers Present 'The Stars Above the Hill'

The Carson Chamber Singers, directed by Judy Monson, will present "The Stars Above the Hill" on Saturday as its 25th season concert.
The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Sarah Winnemucca Hall, in the Aspen Building at Western Nevada College, 2201 W. College Parkway.
The program includes sacred and secular works and features the world premier of David Dickau's "The Stars Above The Hill" conducted by the composer. The Carson Chamber Singers will be accompanied at piano by Nancy Mielke. Call (775) 883-4154.

Lowden Attends Pro-Nuclear Energy Meeting In Reno

The Legislative Commission’s Subcommittee to Review Regulations will meet tomorrow afternoon to discuss the fate of the controversial “Real ID” in Nevada.
Citing concerns with both privacy and cost, numerous organizations have come out against the requirements of the REAL ID Act of 2005 including the ACLU, Americans for Tax Reform, Gun Owners of America, Gun Owners of Nevada, Campaign for Liberty, the Cato Institute, National Immigration Law Center and the National Network to End Domestic Violence.

Heavenly announces extended season resort operations

For all you experts of the terrain parks, Heavenly Mountain Resort has something new and exciting for you. Plus details on that last week of operations for the ski and rider season.

Heavenly has announced its plan for the week of April 19 – 25. In mid-March, Heavenly announced the extension of the 2009-10 season by one week in response to conditions and a plentiful snowpack. This season the resort will operate the final week with the most ski and snowboard terrain available in the past three years.

CARSON CITY – Governor Jim Gibbon’s today announced that the state has redesigned its website for reporting activities related to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to allow greater transparency of the stimulus program in Nevada.
“We are committed to making information about Nevada’s use of stimulus funds readily available to our residents,” the Governor said. “During these tough economic times, it’s important that our citizens know we are utilizing stimulus in the most efficient way that will help our economy and create more jobs for Nevadans.”
