‘Coffee Scientists’ of Old World Coffee Lab open Carson City cafe inside Union Brewery

Old World Coffee Lab opened its first shop in Reno’s Midtown four years ago on California Avenue. Its mission, owners say, is to bring light to the coffee world and its processes.

On his tour during a snowy Tahoe December, he performed at the Harrah’s Club Lodge in Lake Tahoe.
Little did he know he had a few followers trailing him from city to city, and they weren’t hopeful fans, but instead, hopeful foes.

“I’ve been working for The Nature Conservancy as a Restoration Technician at the McCarran Ranch Preserve on the Truckee River for nearly four years,” explains Leonard. “Now, I’m really looking forward to bringing my conservation skills and background to the beautiful Carson Valley. I’m excited to engage with community members to make the most of this incredible preserve and to build on the success that TNC and partners have had here over nearly two decades.”

JoAnne Skelly: Hemp is a viable crop for Nevada
Submitted by editor on Sun, 01/27/2019 - 9:11amRecently a reader asked me about growing hemp. According to Penn State Extension, hemp was often found in early settlements and used as a fiber source. It was widely grown in Pennsylvania and other states in the 1700s and 1800s. Not only grown for fiber, its oil was used “in paints, ink, varnishes, and lamp oil.” Conestoga wagon covers and clothing were made from hemp.

With the left and center field jobs wide open, Snider, a former first-round pick, will look to compete for a spot on the Dbacks’ 25-man roster in spring training.

We harvested bushels of tomatoes, four kinds of peppers including "Jimmy Nardellos" and jalapeños, lemon cucumbers, "Malibu" green beans, artichokes, golden raspberries, basil and figs.
