Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020 two additional deaths due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting 13 new cases and 10 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region on Monday, Oct. 12, 2020. This brings the total number of cases to 1,493, with 1,316 recoveries and 17 deaths, 160 cases remain active.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has received multiple complaints of residents hearing gun shots emitting from the Deer Run Road area, Sedge Road off of Deer Run Road, and the Goni Road area north of town.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will take place Thursday, October 15, in the Bob Boldrick Theatre of the Community Center located at 851 E. William Street.

Lyon County officials have been notified that an assisted living facility, Mason Valley Residence, in Yerington had a high number of positive tests for COVID-19.

It is reported that 34 out of 53 tests results were positive.

Partnership Carson City, founded to develop a healthy community, and other partners are educating the community about how to safely dispose of prescription drugs this Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at Smith's Food and Drug Store, located at 599 E William St. Additionally, Partnership will have a collection box for safe disposal of sharps (syringes) and providing free Deterra Bags for safe-at-home disposal and lockboxes for storage.

National Forest trails, trailheads, beaches and other day-use areas in the Lake Tahoe Basin have now reopened for day-use only as of Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. Camping and overnight stays will not be permitted, and campgrounds will remain closed. Resorts will reopen for day-use only. Emergency Fire Restrictions will remain in effect through Nov. 30. The Carson City School Board of Trustees meets Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street. Recently there have been national complaints and reports of juveniles purchasing alcohol, using masks to conceal their identity. On August 25, 2020 the Carson City Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers, in conjunction with Partnership Carson City, conducted an alcohol compliance check.
