Fitness, music, film and Count Basie: Events around Carson City for Tuesday, August 20

Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Carson City's The Basil announces it will close September 12, reopen under new management

According to a letter sent out to Carson City residents and business owners, The Basil on Carson Street announced that it will be closing on Sept. 12, 2019.

Carson City supervisors accept 90 percent design phase of South Carson roundabout

The Carson City Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed Thursday to accept the 90 percent design phase of the South Carson Street roundabout project following a presentation led by the city's chief engineer and comments from the public.

On Wednesday evening, the project was presented to the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission by chief engineer Dan Stucky. To date there have been 18 public meetings on this project.

Carson City arrests: Jail inmates booked for drug possession

Two Carson City Detention Center inmates were booked early Tuesday for suspicion of felony drug possession after an investigation by jail staff.

The Dead Winter Carpenters brought a bluegrass and country flair to the fourth annual Levitt AMP outdoor Music Series on Saturday.

Carson City man arrested for DUI, destruction of property and leaving the scene of an accident

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2400 block of Silver Sage Drive early Saturday morning on five charges including DUI second and leaving the scene of an accident.

The man was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the location on report of an accident with unknown injuries. Dispatch advised the vehicle left the scene after knowing down a resident’s fence

New 'Business Retention and Expansion' program under review between Carson City Library, NNDA, and Adams Hub

A Joint Operating Agreement is currently under review between the Carson City Library, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, and Adams Hub, to create and manage a “Business Retention and Expansion” program.

At the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Aug. 1, a presentation was held to discuss a possible joint contract between the three entities, for the creation of a Business Retention and Expansion program, which would be funded by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.
