Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. According to a letter sent out to Carson City residents and business owners, The Basil on Carson Street announced that it will be closing on Sept. 12, 2019.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors unanimously agreed Thursday to accept the 90 percent design phase of the South Carson Street roundabout project following a presentation led by the city's chief engineer and comments from the public.

On Wednesday evening, the project was presented to the Carson City Regional Transportation Commission by chief engineer Dan Stucky. To date there have been 18 public meetings on this project.

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2400 block of Silver Sage Drive early Saturday morning on five charges including DUI second and leaving the scene of an accident.

The man was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the location on report of an accident with unknown injuries. Dispatch advised the vehicle left the scene after knowing down a resident’s fence

A Joint Operating Agreement is currently under review between the Carson City Library, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, and Adams Hub, to create and manage a “Business Retention and Expansion” program.

At the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Aug. 1, a presentation was held to discuss a possible joint contract between the three entities, for the creation of a Business Retention and Expansion program, which would be funded by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.

The first Hot August Nights began on Aug. 1, 1986 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, and Virginia City brought a sense of nostalgia back to the historic mining town.

Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Taste of Downtown is one of Carson City’s largest events of the year, and this year, the masses showed up to support.

With dozens of food and drink booths along with several bands, Downtown Carson Street was transformed into a massive street party on Saturday evening.

According to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, over two thousand people were estimated to have attended.
