Enjoy an evening of big-band music by the Mile High Jazz Band with vocalist Jakki Ford on Tuesday, October 8, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Living the Good Life Bistro, 1480 N. Carson Street in Carson City. Admission is free and donations are welcome. Dinner and late night menus are available.

Many have asked what the Native and Newcomers Club is all about and what we do. Here's a chance for you to get to know us better as we aim to promote positive programs in Carson City.

As we make our way to Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, events around the capital city include a job fair at the Carson Nugget, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs, a Fat Tuesday business networking event, Culinary Traveler’s Club at Bleu Cafe and more.

There’s no real Nevada Day without the Nevada Day Parade, and there’s no parade without parade marshals.

Marshals are an integral part of the parade. They’re on the ground floor making sure that the parade entires are situated before the parade, and they make sure they flow smoothly during the parade.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Rockabilly Riot car show, Dayton Valley Days, a pancreatic cancer awareness walk at Silver Oak Golf Course, the annual Pooch Plunge at the Carson Aquatic Facility, horse endurance races in Virginia City, history talks at Mormon Station Park and much more!

Firehouse Subs in Carson City is the place to be Tuesday evening for dinner, and a fundraiser for the Carson City and Douglas County Relay for Life.

During the annual Perry Foundation Endeavor Awards dinner on Aug. 20 at The Grove at South Creek, Carson City-based Mission Senior Living team members were presented four Endeavor Awards for outstanding care and achievement in post-acute and long-term care in Nevada. MSL offers assisted living and memory care services at locations in Nevada, Oregon, and Arizona.

A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and hit and run after allegedly crashing into a vehicle, flipping off the driver of the vehicle and then driving home, a sheriff's report states.

Heading into Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, events around the capital city include a TRIAD presentation for Carson City residents on the new Smart911 system, a discussion of the sheriff's office Mobile Outreach Safety Team at a meeting of the Carson City Republican Women organization, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, a Fat Tuesday Business Networking event at J's Bistro in Dayton, family craft night at the library and more.

The Martin Hotel Basque Restaurant opened nearly one year ago at 308 Curry Street in Carson City, and now at the end of September they’ll be closing their doors.

Carson High School will again open its doors a little wider and longer for the 3rd Annual Back-to-School Night like no other Sept. 9. Open House, Open Hearts is a community event focused on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing parent and guardian engagement at CHS, and celebrating the community, creativity, and diverse talents of Carson City.

The seasons are changing and fall is considered as one the most beautiful seasons of all. What better way to leave summer and embrace the change than by pulling out the clubs and shoes and taking a few swings at our 26th annual "Making a Difference" Golf Tournament.

This Monday, Sept. 9, Carson High School will open their doors for the third annual “Open House, Open Hearts” Back-to-School event. The community event starting at 4:30 p.m. will focus on building bridges to local services for teens and their families, increasing guardian engagement at Carson High School and celebrating the community, creativity and diverse talents of Carson City.

Carson City resident Maxine Hauser Nietz will share her love of space and her work with NASA during the Leisure Hour Club’s September meeting. The organization will begin its 124th year on Wednesday, Sept. 18 with Nietz’s presentation and a business meeting.

Ahead is a job fair at the Carson Nugget, a Fat Tuesday business networking gathering, a morning walk, evening hike and a bike ride with Muscle Powered, free skin cancer testing offered by Carson Tahoe Health and Wellness Institute, a Relay for Life fundraiser at Firehouse Subs and more.

There will be a dinner time fundraiser for Carson City, Douglas County Relay for life this Tuesday evening, August 27 at Firehouse Subs in Carson City.

As summer winds down, fall events in Tahoe South are ramping up. And the secret’s out: Fall in Tahoe South is one of the most idyllic times to visit with mild weather, off-season lodging rates, more beach space and numerous events starting Labor Day Weekend.

Nevada Republicans meet in Winnemucca September 7 to elect our leaders for the 2020 campaign. We need to turn Nevada red for two reasons: 1) to help re-elect Donald Trump president; and 2) to win enough legislative seats to assure the 2021 redistricting will be a fair process, not another Democrat gerrymandering riot.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. The future of our world shines ever so bright, and the good energy is ever so palpable, as we welcome 75 Fulbright Scholars from 47 countries to America. These are the best and the brightest and they will do great things.

Lake Tahoe is a gateway for these young superstars, thanks to the Northern Nevada International Center and UNR.

The Silver State Model T Ford Club will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20 at Red’s Old 395 Grill, 10455 S. Carson Street in Carson City.

Optional no-host dinner precedes the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Anyone interested in Model T Ford cars or trucks is welcome to attend.

This club is organized to have fun, go on tours and help each other with our Model Ts. Spouses are also welcome.

It’s still summer, so Wheeled Food Wednesdays are still rolling through each week to the Brewery Art Center to bring great food to the community. This week, in cooperation with Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival, the Wesley Orsolic Trio will be playing a live show at the BAC from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

A Carson City-based nonprofit that teaches the English language to those preparing for U.S. citizenship — and whose founder was recognized in December 2018 as a finalist for the CNN Hero Award — has been picked to receive a national recognition award from the prestigious Manhattan Institute.

On August 17, at 5:30 pm at Rob McFadden Plaza in Carson City, CHS Head Football Coach Blair Roman will induct the 2019 Carson Football Hall of Fame Class.

Heading into Tuesday Aug. 6, which means the safest family celebration of the year at the 17th annual Carson City National Night Out. This is an event like no other, where agencies who work in areas of public health and safety gather at Mills Park to meet with Carson City residents. This event features 3 hours of information booths, games, demonstrations, food and fun. Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. The Carson City Council of the Navy League of the United States will hold this quarter’s Dinner and meeting on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Gold Dust West Hotel and Casino, Carson City. The Social hour will start at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m.
