Memorial Day is the day we celebrate those men and women who passed while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company presents Gershwin's Tony-winning Broadway hit, “Crazy for You” at the Carson City Community Center beginning Friday and running weekends through May 19.

Good day Carson City and welcome to Wednesday, May 8, 2019. We're looking at another day of sunshine and afternoon highs in the low 70s. We have activities throughout the region today, including a history presentation in Dayton, a Holocaust memorial service at the Governor's Mansion, art classes, live jazz and more. We want to send a big birthday "shoutout" to our outdoor editor emeritus Don Quilici, who turns 85 today. Don and his wife, Elaine, remain active, maintain healthy walks and hikes around the region and have plans for yet another Alaska outback trip this summer. Happy Birthday Q!

Dance with Live Music at the Carson City Senior Center! Kick up your dancing shoes and enjoy the live music of The Grumpy Old Men Band at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, on Friday, May 10, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Admission is $10 per person, open to all ages. Josh Hoyer and Soul Colossal formed, in 2012, in the blues-town of Lincoln, Nebraska.
