As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

Prepare for a pre-summer kickoff festival at Casino Fandango over Memorial Day weekend in Carson City with the second annual community Rockin’ Rib Fest, this Friday through Monday.

This deliciously action-packed holiday event is the only Memorial Day rib festival in the region and is the largest planned Memorial Day celebration in the community, organizers say.

GENOA, Nev. — Mormon Station State Historic Park is offering a number of exciting interpretive programs this June. Join park staff in the heart of the Genoa National Historic District for history talks, cooking classes, guided walks, and children’s arts and crafts activities.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — Fort Churchill State Historic Park is offering a variety of ranger-led programs during the month of June. Events highlight the area’s rich history and abundant natural resources. Among the activities are:

Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

Good morning Carson City, and happy Sunday! I'm sorry to tell you we're going to have another sad-weather day, with scattered showers, a high of 52 and a low of 34. But maybe mother nature is just trying to add a little extra water to the lakes and rivers before shutting down for a hot summer? On the docket today we have a pollinator garden site work day, the final performance of Western Nevada Musical Theatre's "Crazy for You" and a National Adoption Weekend event at Petsmart with Res-Que, so stop by and give those pups a snuggle!

The second annual Kids to Parks Day was a jam-packed day full out outdoor activities at the Silver Saddle Ranch on Saturday in Carson City.

To celebrate Kids to Parks Day, children of all ages got the hands-on experience of outdoor recreation and safety through several informative booths and exciting activities around the ranch.

Heading into Saturday, May 18, 2019 we say welcome to the weekend Carson City. Activities abound throughout the region. Bring an umbrella as the forecast calls for some showers. But above all, enjoy the events and activities lined up in Carson City, Carson Valley, Mound House, Silver City, Virginia City and Dayton areas.

Sierra Lutheran High School, in collaboration with Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School and Mt. Cross Ministries, has released its 2019 Summer Programs registration. Collectively, the three entities will offer seven unique summer programs, including two week-long overnight programs.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. Good morning Carson City. Today is Sunday, April 14 and we are officially one week away from Easter. Today is going to be a bit breezy and cloudy, but the high will be 63 degrees with a low of 43, so at least we aren't freezing. Check below to see what events await you today in our capital city.

CARSON CITY — For the second consecutive year, the Nevada State Museum will celebrate Hawaiian culture with “Lei Day.”

The Stewart Father's Day Powwow will be held June 14-16, 2019. Come celebrate Father's Day Weekend with the entire family and experience American Indian Heritage, history and pride at the Stewart Father's Day Powwow.

The former Stewart Indian School in Carson City will come alive with over 200 dancers, over 40 arts and crafts vendors and Indian Tacos. Admission is free. Click on flier for more information.

The Stewart Father's Day Entry is at 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at noon. This is an alcohol and drug-free event.

There is something about the start of Spring that makes Sundays seem more pleasant; despite the fact that the weekend is on its downhill slide. There are always pleasant things to do in Carson City come rain, snow, wind or shine.

Happy Saturday Carson City! Today we have the Flying Pig Indoor Flea Market at Fuji Park, the “Spring has Sprung” Art Show, rummage sales, and more! We’ll be looking at a day full of spring showers and gentle breezes, with a high of 49 degrees and a low of 25.

Recently, SkillsUSA had its Regional Photography Competition, and all five participating CHS students are going to State. SkillsUSA is a career and technical student organization serving more than 395,000 high school, college, and middle school students across the nation in trade training programs and technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.

Thanks to the Nevada Enrichment Program Grant, Life Skills Trainer Monica Marcinko from Accessible Space, Inc., is now able to offer free life skill classes to the community. The classes are open to all adults with special needs, seniors, veterans, etc.

Despite snow on the ground, a Chinese New Year celebration will take place in downtown Carson City between the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.

The ninth annual Carson High School Safe Grad Safe and Sober Run/Walk occurs at the CHS track.

And the 20th annual Feast of Chocolate, a scholarship fundraiser for the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Capital Branch, is being held at the Plaza Hotel Event Center.

The Nevada State Museum and the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada are teaming up to celebrate Chinese New Year On Saturday, Feb. 9.

Dance performances, crafts, a New Year’s Parade, Taiko drummers and more will welcome in the Year of the Pig in the Chinese Zodiac.

The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City will once again partner with the Nevada State Museum to offer a celebration of Chinese New Year on Feb. 9t, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Festivities will begin with a music and dance performance at the Nevada State Museum at 10 AM followed by a lion dance parade up North Carson Street before concluding at the Children’s Museum at 11 AM where there will be crafts, music, and play. The event is free for members. Daily admission will apply for all non-member guests.

CARSON CITY — Dancers, drummers and dragons will be on display as the Nevada State Museum and Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada team up Saturday, Feb. 9, to ring in the Chinese New Year and celebrate Chinese culture.
