Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

This deliciously action-packed holiday event is the only Memorial Day rib festival in the region and is the largest planned Memorial Day celebration in the community, organizers say.

Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

I'm sorry to tell you we're going to have another sad-weather day, with scattered showers, a high of 52 and a low of 34. But maybe mother nature is just trying to add a little extra water to the lakes and rivers before shutting down for a hot summer? On the docket today we have a pollinator garden site work day, the final performance of Western Nevada Musical Theatre's "Crazy for You" and a National Adoption Weekend event at Petsmart with Res-Que, so stop by and give those pups a snuggle!

Sierra Lutheran High School announces area summer camp offerings

There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. 2019 Stewart Father's Day Powwow to feature 200 dancers

The former Stewart Indian School in Carson City will come alive with over 200 dancers, over 40 arts and crafts vendors and Indian Tacos. Admission is free. Click on flier for more information.
The Stewart Father's Day Entry is at 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at noon. This is an alcohol and drug-free event.

Despite snow on the ground, a Chinese New Year celebration will take place in downtown Carson City between the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada.
The ninth annual Carson High School Safe Grad Safe and Sober Run/Walk occurs at the CHS track.
And the 20th annual Feast of Chocolate, a scholarship fundraiser for the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Capital Branch, is being held at the Plaza Hotel Event Center.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 01/30/2019 - 3:31pmThe Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City will once again partner with the Nevada State Museum to offer a celebration of Chinese New Year on Feb. 9t, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Festivities will begin with a music and dance performance at the Nevada State Museum at 10 AM followed by a lion dance parade up North Carson Street before concluding at the Children’s Museum at 11 AM where there will be crafts, music, and play. The event is free for members. Daily admission will apply for all non-member guests.
