Ready for the weekend, Carson City? Don’t miss out on the annual Pumpkin Patch at Seeliger Elementary. This event featuring crafts, games, and music is always fun. Learn about the Basque Culture at the Nevada State Museum. This month’s Family Fun Saturday features presentations and activities. Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans are hosting a free Legal Aid Fair in the Sierra Room of the Community Center for those of you with questions about civil, non-criminal, matters.

  • Seniors Swim Free at Paradise Salon and Spa: Executive Pointe off College Pkwy (7am-5pm, except during class times; 55 and older; indoor adult warm saltwater pools)
  • TMDTC Dog Agility Trials at Fuji Park (7am-7pm)
  • HOSA: Future Health Professionals Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebee’s (8am-10am; $10, includes: pancakes, breakfast potatoes, bacon, and juice/coffee)
  • Bikes for Badges to benefit the family of Deputy Sheriff Carl Howell begins at the Carson City Sheriff’s Department: 911 E Musser St. (8am-10am Same day Registration of cyclists $25; 10am-11am Ride Prep and Safety Briefing; 10:45am kick stands up and head to Chester’s Harley Davidson Reno; 12pm Music, lunch, entertainment, auctions, etc.)

23rd Annual Seeliger Pumpkin Patch

Gather ye pumpkins while ye may, Saturday, Oct. 10 at the 23rd Annual Seeliger Pumpkin Patch.
Seeliger Elementary in Carson City will once again feature crafters, bounce houses, deluxe locally-grown pumpkins, music, food, gift baskets, raffles, a cake walk and lots of games! The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Seeliger Elementary, 2800 S. Saliman Rd.
Come for the best pumpkins in town and stay for a day of family fun!

Downtown Wine Walk a perfect farewell to summer

Time for another wine walk, Carson City, thanks to the Downtown Business Association. Saturday, Sept. 5, the festivities begin at 1 p.m.

Grab a wine glass, map, and hand stamp at the Carson Nugget, Cactus Jack’s, Carson Jewelry and Loan, Touched by an Angel, or Bella Fiore. You have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins. Every first Saturday over 30 shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors to the crowds of merry-makers. It's always a great reason to explore downtown.

I Love Carson City's Weekend Event Summary: August 1-2

I apologize, Carson City. You have some decisions to make. There is quite a bit going on whether you want something family friendly, adults only, indoors, outdoors, or a combination of it all. The weekly Farmers Market at Third and Curry St. is always a good way to start the weekend. Yummy food, a bounce house for the kids, and beautiful flowers are hard to argue with. Keep reading for enough fun to make your head spin!

  • Back to School at Carson Hot Springs (Free 17 and younger admission per paid adult; outdoor pools only; 7am-10pm)
  • 21st Annual Silver Dollar Car Classic at Mills Park (8am-4pm show and shine, music, and vendors; Registration 8am-11am; Pancake Breakfast 8am-10:30am; Judging until 4pm)

Hot August Summer Sipping Saturday at the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk

Summer fun looks like a wine walk, thanks to the Downtown Business Association. Saturday, August 1, the festivities begin at 1 p.m., rain or shine. You have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins. Every first Saturday over thirty shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors to the crowds of merry-makers. It's always a great reason to explore downtown.

The wine walk runs from 1pm to 5pm. Sign up at the Carson Nugget, Cactus Jacks, Bella Fiore Wines, Carson Jewelry and Loan, Remedy's Bar, or Touched by Angels.

Sunday, June 7: Things to do around Carson City

Dayton is dishing up fun this weekend with their annual Oodles of Noodles festival. Sunday features a pet parade, live music, and more. The Sequicentenial of the Civil War will be remembered at the Dayton Cemetery; just take Main Street up the hill and to the left. Street Vibrations Spring Revival roars into Reno this weekend, and Virginia City is sure to have its share of bikers, as well. So please drive carefully.

First things first. Saturday afternoon could be expecting some wet weather, so be prepared. I can’t predict what events may be affected by it, or if the rain will even show up. No worries for you wine walkers, though, downtown will be hopping: rain, shine, or blizzard. Head over to Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery and wish them a happy fourth anniversary, Jeffery will be serving up one of his signature Sangrias. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church won best wine walk stop last month and will have live music. Don’t forget to spend some time inside Westside Pour House: ARTistically INKlined pop-up gallery returns and proves that tattoo artists are first, and foremost, artists.

SATURDAY:

  • Street Vibrations Spring Rally: Downtown Reno
  • Reno Tahoe International Film Festival – go to www.RTIFF.org for schedule and locations
  • Sierra Lutheran High School's 13th Annual Golf Classic at the Silver Oaks Golf Course (7am Check-in, Shotgun start at 8am; $125 for a single player or $400 for a team of four)

Catmandu will soon be opening a small retail area at our cat rescue/sanctuary. We will feature cat-tested and cat-approved items such as scratching posts, toys, beds, collars, etc. We also plan to carry unique cat-related clothing items, crafts, etc.. We would love to support local community-based artisans and crafters as much as possible in our store. Holiday Craft Fair season kicks-off Saturday

Saturday, Nov. 8 is a busy day for area crafters. Four arts and craft events are scheduled throughout town. Get a jump on your holiday shopping at the following:

Comstock Mobile Village Craft and Rummage Sale located on College Parkway across from the Carson Airport from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 20 vendors will be offering hand-made goods, food, and rummage. Free coffee will help keep you warm.

Nevada 150 October Celebrations in Northern Nevada

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of October. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following area events are held Oct. 1-15:

It's Wine Walk Saturday in Carson City

On your “Must Not Miss” list, is the popular Downtown Carson City Wine Walk held the first Saturday of every month from 1- 5 p.m.
Today's wine walk is going to be the best yet with Rice Street on the north end of downtown offering a shop local street faire. Vendors, Crafters, and artisans will be set up in the streets.

The Brewery Arts Center will be having street performers throughout the wine walk, and many of the shops will be having end of summer clearances. Make sure to get your tickets and bring a friend.

The Dayton Valley Days Committee invites crafters, vendors and anyone who wants to reach a large number of people to reserve booth space for the 26th annual street festival held in the heart of historic Old Town Dayton.
Dayton Valley Days is scheduled Sept. 20 and 21 with an expected attendance over 15,000.

Oodles of Noodles food festival in Dayton this weekend

The 12th Annual Oodles of Noodles Festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday in Dayton. Hosted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Oodles of Noodles is a two-day event in Old Town Dayton that combines great food provided by our contestants and food vendors, amazing entertainment, local talent, and tons of vendor and business booths.

The Oodles of Noodles Cook-off will be SATURDAY ONLY from 10am-2pm. Tasting Tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Children.

Western Nevada College Craft Fair

The annual Western Nevada College Craft Fair will run Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the main lobby of the Bristlecone Building. Enjoy a chance to start holiday shopping between classes or on lunch break. Students, faculty and the public can browse the main lobby where more than 20 crafters will be selling a wide variety of handmade items.
This year's crafters will be selling everything from jewelry, gift baskets and candles to picture frames, artwork, candy and pies. The event is sponsored by the WNC classified employees, who use proceeds to help fund professional development activities.
