Learn about the Basque Culture at the Nevada State Museum. This month’s Family Fun Saturday features presentations and activities. Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans are hosting a free Legal Aid Fair in the Sierra Room of the Community Center for those of you with questions about civil, non-criminal, matters.

Hello, Carson City. I'm suffering from an internet outage and want to make sure I get this information to you. I truly apologize that it is without my usual links or banter, but my little tablet can only do so much. Gather ye pumpkins while ye may, Saturday, Oct. 10 at the 23rd Annual Seeliger Pumpkin Patch.
Seeliger Elementary in Carson City will once again feature crafters, bounce houses, deluxe locally-grown pumpkins, music, food, gift baskets, raffles, a cake walk and lots of games! The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Seeliger Elementary, 2800 S. Saliman Rd.
Come for the best pumpkins in town and stay for a day of family fun!

Time for another wine walk, Carson City, thanks to the Downtown Business Association. Saturday, Sept. 5, the festivities begin at 1 p.m.

Grab a wine glass, map, and hand stamp at the Carson Nugget, Cactus Jack’s, Carson Jewelry and Loan, Touched by an Angel, or Bella Fiore. You have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins. Every first Saturday over 30 shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors to the crowds of merry-makers. It's always a great reason to explore downtown.

A Touch of Class Craft Show - October 15, 16, & 17 at Carson Valley Inn - Ballroom. 10:00 am - 8:00 pm A unique craft show set up like a boutique (no individual tables). Everything is handmade by 30 local crafters. Free admission and door prizes hourly each day. The first 100 people to bring in a donation for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet will receive a handmade gift from us. Labor Day Weekend Highlights

Carson City:

• Treasure hunt on Saturday at the Carson City Historical Society Rummage and Yard Sale at the Forman-Roberts House Museum at 1207 N. Carson St. Free tours of the museum will also be available during the 9am-4pm event.
• Take a ride on the Virginia and Truckee #25 Steam Engine at the Nevada State Train Museum Friday through Monday.

I apologize, Carson City. You have some decisions to make. There is quite a bit going on whether you want something family friendly, adults only, indoors, outdoors, or a combination of it all. The weekly Farmers Market at Third and Curry St. is always a good way to start the weekend. Yummy food, a bounce house for the kids, and beautiful flowers are hard to argue with. Keep reading for enough fun to make your head spin!

• Back to School at Carson Hot Springs (Free 17 and younger admission per paid adult; outdoor pools only; 7am-10pm)
• 21st Annual Silver Dollar Car Classic at Mills Park (8am-4pm show and shine, music, and vendors; Registration 8am-11am; Pancake Breakfast 8am-10:30am; Judging until 4pm)

Dayton is dishing up fun this weekend with their annual Oodles of Noodles festival. Sunday features a pet parade, live music, and more. The Sequicentenial of the Civil War will be remembered at the Dayton Cemetery; just take Main Street up the hill and to the left. Street Vibrations Spring Revival roars into Reno this weekend, and Virginia City is sure to have its share of bikers, as well. So please drive carefully.

SUNDAY:
• 14th Annual Oodles of Noodles Cook Off and Festival: Live Entertainment, Pet Parade, Great Food, Vendors and Crafters, Civil War Re-Enactments, Old West Gun Shows, Motorsports and more in Old Town Dayton (Noodle Tasting Saturday Only; Pet Parade at 10am, $5 entry)
• Sundaes on Sunday: Carson City Library’s Grand Opening Sunday in the Secret Garden (2pm-4pm)
• First Sunday Breakfast at the Elks Club: 515 N Nevada (bar opens 7am; 8:30am-11am, $7)

First things first. Saturday afternoon could be expecting some wet weather, so be prepared. I can’t predict what events may be affected by it, or if the rain will even show up. No worries for you wine walkers, though, downtown will be hopping: rain, shine, or blizzard. Head over to Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery and wish them a happy fourth anniversary, Jeffery will be serving up one of his signature Sangrias. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church won best wine walk stop last month and will have live music. Don’t forget to spend some time inside Westside Pour House: ARTistically INKlined pop-up gallery returns and proves that tattoo artists are first, and foremost, artists.

Catmandu will soon be opening a small retail area at our cat rescue/sanctuary. We will feature cat-tested and cat-approved items such as scratching posts, toys, beds, collars, etc. We also plan to carry unique cat-related clothing items, crafts, etc.. We would love to support local community-based artisans and crafters as much as possible in our store. Saturday, Nov. 8 is a busy day for area crafters. Four arts and craft events are scheduled throughout town. Get a jump on your holiday shopping at the following:

Comstock Mobile Village Craft and Rummage Sale located on College Parkway across from the Carson Airport from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 20 vendors will be offering hand-made goods, food, and rummage. Free coffee will help keep you warm.

Many celebrations are scheduled throughout the Silver State in the month of October. These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following area events are held Oct. 1-15:

On your “Must Not Miss” list, is the popular Downtown Carson City Wine Walk held the first Saturday of every month from 1- 5 p.m.
Today's wine walk is going to be the best yet with Rice Street on the north end of downtown offering a shop local street faire. Vendors, Crafters, and artisans will be set up in the streets.

The Brewery Arts Center will be having street performers throughout the wine walk, and many of the shops will be having end of summer clearances. Make sure to get your tickets and bring a friend.

Smith Valley Library, 22 Day Lane, Smith NV, announces NEW SCHOOL YEAR HOURS effective Monday, August 11, 2014. We will be open four days a week: Tuesday 3pm– 6pm, Thursday 3pm - 6pm, Friday 9am - 5pm, and Saturday 11am – 5pm.

The Dayton Valley Days Committee invites crafters, vendors and anyone who wants to reach a large number of people to reserve booth space for the 26th annual street festival held in the heart of historic Old Town Dayton.
Dayton Valley Days is scheduled Sept. 20 and 21 with an expected attendance over 15,000.

2013 is about to end, where did it go? How do you say thank you to the many people that were there for you? So I decided to write this letter.

The 12th Annual Oodles of Noodles Festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday in Dayton. Hosted by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Oodles of Noodles is a two-day event in Old Town Dayton that combines great food provided by our contestants and food vendors, amazing entertainment, local talent, and tons of vendor and business booths.

The Oodles of Noodles Cook-off will be SATURDAY ONLY from 10am-2pm. Tasting Tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Children.

Sign up to be a chili cook and compete for braggin' rights as the "People's Choice of Carson City" Chili Winner! Crafters are also invited to the event to sell their goods. Chili tasting kits will be sold and a great community raffle will be hosted. Lots of family fun...don't miss it! Proceeds benefit our local Soroptimist Club of Carson City.

Artisans, crafters and vendors will fill the atrium area of the Carson Mall in Carson City from November 17 to December 24. Find unique gifts and ideas for the holidays.

The annual Western Nevada College Craft Fair will run Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the main lobby of the Bristlecone Building. Enjoy a chance to start holiday shopping between classes or on lunch break. Students, faculty and the public can browse the main lobby where more than 20 crafters will be selling a wide variety of handmade items.
This year's crafters will be selling everything from jewelry, gift baskets and candles to picture frames, artwork, candy and pies. The event is sponsored by the WNC classified employees, who use proceeds to help fund professional development activities.
