Hot August Summer Sipping Saturday at the Downtown Carson City Wine Walk
Summer fun looks like a wine walk, thanks to the Downtown Business Association. Saturday, August 1, the festivities begin at 1 p.m., rain or shine. You have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins. Every first Saturday over thirty shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors to the crowds of merry-makers. It's always a great reason to explore downtown.
The wine walk runs from 1pm to 5pm. Sign up at the Carson Nugget, Cactus Jacks, Bella Fiore Wines, Carson Jewelry and Loan, Remedy's Bar, or Touched by Angels.
For $10 participants will receive a commemorative wine glass and endless reasons to stroll through Downtown Carson City sipping and tasting the afternoon away. Bring your wine walk glass with the Carson City Logo on it and pay only $8. With paid admission you will receive a hand stamp, glass, map of participating stops, and a chance to win raffle prizes.
Stops are as far north as the Tap-Shack, Just Brew it, and Touched by Angels, as far south as Caterpillar's Hookah Lounge, Mama Em's Bell, Book, and Candle, and Bella Fiore, with plenty in between. Don't forget about participants off the beaten Curry and Carson St. paths: the Brewery Arts Center, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and the Elks Club would love for you to stop by. The sangria at Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery on West Telegraph is not to be missed!
Some special things going on this month are a book signing at Morley’s Books with author Jenifer Corkill 'Seasons of the Mist'. Don’t miss the artists, authors, crafters and more in the pop-up Artisan Alley off West Telegraph Street, by the Nevada Day Store. You’ll probably get a glimpse of the Naughty Tea Mistresses, as well. Wish Mama Em a happy birthday at Bell, Book, and Candle on West Third Street, and grab a cupcake while you’re there. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is featuring live music and a pool party atmosphere. Our local music festival, Jazz and Beyond, doesn’t begin until next Friday, but you can get a jazzy taste of things to come: Colin Ross will be at the Purple Avocado and Rick Metz will be at Touched by Angels with his group, First Take.
The Downtown Business Association has a new website to keep you updated with the great business that make up the core of our historical downtown. You can check it out at www.DowntownCarson.org. You can also follow the DBA on Facebook here. Be safe, Carson City, and have a wonderful wine walk!
