Carson City Cruise - Meet N Greet and Nevada Rural Housing Authority will be hosting "Costumes for a Cause" at Bully's Sports Bar in Carson City. Come by any time between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to drop off your donations, show off your wheels, or just join in the fun.

As always, the Meet will be open to ALL Cars, Trucks and Bikes. We'll be accepting New and Gently Used Halloween Costume Donations for local children in Shelters.

In the world premiere of Constant Coogan's "Bury Me Alive" music video, fans are immediately met with the soaring melodies and stunning vocals that Constant Coogan has become so well known for since the release of their July 1st album of the same name. The video is a true work of art, featuring talent from the dance students at Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company.

Take a private tour of the rarely seen clothing and textile collection at the Nevada State Museum’s Marjorie Russell Clothing and Textile Research Center in Carson City and help raise money for the Historic Fourth Ward School Museum in Virginia City.

Since 1989 the annual Nevada Day Classic, an 8K Run or 2-mile Run/Walk presented by the Tahoe Mountain Milers, brings together hundreds of runners and walkers of all shapes and sizes — as Halloween costumes are encouraged — who hit the streets of the historic West Side of Carson City with Guide Dog Puppies-in-Training serving as course marshals to woof them on! Families and groups can participate in the walk, enjoy the race breakfast, and help celebrate Nevada by enjoying the Nevada Day Parade that immediately follows the Classic.

Monday’s aren’t always known for fun, but the Fourth of July is a different animal. Carson City, Virginia City, Lake Tahoe, and Reno will have fireworks displays starting around 9:30. Minden, Gardnerville, and Genoa aren’t slacking, though. Festivities can be found just about everywhere.

Sunday is the day before Independence Day, but Sparks is getting a jump on the festivities with their Star Spangled Sparks Celebration and fireworks. King’s Beach always celebrates early, so you can catch fireworks at the northeast end of Tahoe, as well. Keep reading: the weekend is in full swing.

Holy moly. Carson City is hopping with fun times for everyone. Enjoy Saturday downtown with the Third and Curry Farmers Market, the Downtown Business Association Wine Walk, and a free concert at the Brewery Arts Center. Mills Park features the return of the RSVP Carnival with rides, food, booths, games, and more.

Fourth of July celebrations abound in the Carson City area. Fireworks can be found in Carson City, Reno, Sparks, and at both north and south shore of Lake Tahoe. There are several daytime events going on as well, so grab the kids, friends, and family and have a great Independence Day weekend!

Saturday, July 2:
Fourth of July Weekend Celebration with the Inyo, V&T Locomotive #25, the McKeen Car and the Glenbrook at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City (Train Rides 10am-4pm; Unlimited Ride wristband $15, $5 kids 4-17)

Go for broke this Wednesday. Or you could go for Baroque this evening with the Tahoe Symphony at Corpus Christi Church just south of town. Another good bet is karaoke at Crossroads Lounge: it’s in the East Winnie Lane shopping center with San Marcos Grill and Bleu Café. The West Side Cruiser Ride for Bike Month is a sure thing. Meet at the Brewery Art Center, costumes are highly encouraged, and then meander around our beautiful downtown with some other fun people. Living the Good Life wants you to enjoy a music jam; bring your instrument if you want to sit in.

Rimfire is a bit unusual as 19th Century Nevada towns go.

Although there's a saloon, a bank, a hotel, a cantina and a jail, Rimfire is the only town in the Silver State that can pack up and leave with its residents.

A few days left of school, a few days left of May: summer is knocking on the door and insisting to be let in. If only it would bring some sunshine with it, we’d be set. Get the weekend started with a good time downtown: Stereo Galaxy at Westside Pour House, comedy at the Nugget, and a DJ at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar. Party 80s style at Whiskey Tavern’s karaoke party. Minden kicks off a summer of Concerts in the Park tonight with a tribute to the Beatles.

FRIDAY:

If you were looking for a lazy day, today might not be it. Carson City BMX welcomes moms to the track today; their Mother’s Day race was postponed due to the wet weather. Virginia City still has plenty of chili on the menu, in addition to their annual Fun with the Runs 5K. Gardeners will want to head to Douglas High School for the Future Farmers of America plant sale. SUNDAY:

Ready to have some fun? Virginia City’s Chili on the Comstock Cook-off goes on all weekend. For some healthier fare, hit up the Spring Farmers Market downtown. Go fly a kite at Dangberg Home Historic Park, just past Douglas High School on Highway 88; their ‘Something in the Wind’ Celebration is both Saturday and Sunday. Don’t forget to leave non-perishable food by your mailbox: the annual ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive is today. Sunday fun includes the Carson Victory Roller’s My Bloody Valentine Scrimmage to benefit CASI and the Nevada Humane Society. Got kids? Plenty of fun awaits. Start out at Dunkin Donuts for their Community Celebration complete with face painting and more. Celebrate the Asian New Year with crafts and music at the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada. National Honor Society is hosting its winter blood drive. It will take place on January 28 in the library from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. It is open to community members.  Refreshments and a free cholesterol test is available with each donation. Carson City Pottery is holding an open house today; a gift certificate for a pottery class is perfect for all skill levels.

Dashing through the snow via a U.S.S. Nevada Burning Man Art Car will be the order of the morning for Santa Claus, a band of elves and anyone who wishes to participate in Saturday's Downtown Carson City Christmas Parade.

Have you been naughty or nice this year? You’ll have no problem finding Jolly Old St. Nick this weekend. At Debug Computers where, in exchange for a donation to Holiday with a Hero, you can get a photo with the man in red. The Santa Train at the Nevada State Railroad Museum is a good place to grab a candy cane, some hot cocoa, and tell him what you’d like to find under the tree. Photographs with Santa are available at the Carson Mall Wednesday through Sunday. Genoa’s annual Breakfast with Santa has three seatings beginning at 8:30 a.m.

SATURDAY:

Wassail: (noun) a festivity or revel with drinking of healths; liquor for drinking and wishing health to others on festive occasions (Verb) to revel with drinking. Tis the season for wassailing all over downtown Carson City. Start Saturday, Dec. 5 off with the Downtown Business Association’s monthly wine walk, and stick around for the first ‘Holiday with a Hero’ Holiday Crawl.

You better watch out, you better not cry, or you may be walking the plank. Santa Claus is coming to town, but he'll be arriving on the U.S.S. Nevada Burning Man Art Car instead of his usual sleigh. He will be escorted by some scurvy pirate elves. Come down to Telegraph Square in Downtown Carson City Saturday, Dec. 12 for the Christmas Parade sponsored by Carson City Downtown 20/20.

More than 20 downtown Carson City businesses will be offering drink and food specials during the Holiday Crawl 6-11 p.m. Saturday to benefit local children in need.

“I’m excited,” said organizer Carson City Sheriff’s Sgt. Daniel Gonzales. “People have been talking about doing something like this for the past 10 years.”

For the 17th Year Friends To All volunteers will dress up in Santa Suits and Helper costumes to bring joy and cheer to senior citizens throughout Carson City.

On Saturday, December 19th these festive groups will log between 150 and 200 stops as they make their rounds visiting and delivering gifts.
