Activities around the capital city include a luncheon highlighting the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar, a free Partnership Carson City Yoga class at the Carson City Community Center, art activities and showings, swing dance lessons at Carson Lanes and more.

Consort Canzona early music ensemble begins rehearsals at Carson City Senior Center for spring concert

Consort Canzona, an early music performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, will begin rehearsals on Monday, Feb. 3, for their May concerts. The program features Madrigals from the Renaissance through the Baroque, and includes separate and combined instrumental and vocal selections. Rehearsals are Mondays at 7 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive.

New events center, potential casino sale could boost prospects for South Tahoe market

STATELINE — Mont Bleu, a resort that has gone by three names and had five owners in 41 years, is playing a central role in the future of the South Lake Tahoe gaming market.

Eldorado Resorts CEO Thomas Reeg said the Reno-based company will need to sell at least one of the three casinos it will own in Tahoe once a $17.3 billion merger/buyout of Caesars Entertainment is completed early next year.

Carson City’s first 'Unsilent Night' happens Sunday at BAC as part of worldwide music event

For the first time, the Brewery Arts Center has organized Carson City’s "Unsilent Night." An original composition by Phil Kline, "Unsilent Night" was written specifically to be heard outdoors in the month of December. It takes the form of a street promenade in which the audience becomes the performer.

Carson City wins Levitt Amp Concert Series Grant for Fifth Straight Year

Today, the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation named Carson City, Nevada as one of 20 small to mid-sized towns and cities across America to win a Levitt AMP Grant Award of $25K in matching funds to present a free concert series at The Change Companies Stage. The Brewery Arts Center submitted Carson City’s Levitt AMP proposal.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers specializing in early music, will present “Something Old, Something New” concerts this holiday season on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4 p.m., at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395 (just south of Best Buy) in Carson City. Obituary: William 'Bill' Clarence Thornton, 1934-2019

William "Bill" Clarence Thornton, father, attorney, pilot, part-time cowboy, corny joke-teller, and mentor to many, had his final flight on Tuesday, November 5th, 2019 after gracefully charting his course with Parkinson's Disease for over twenty years. Bill died peacefully at home in hospice care surrounded by loved ones.

Senator Square: Carson High School athletes excel across the board

Everyone in Carson City is invited, always invited, to come on out and support the CHS athletic teams and programs, especially when so many of these individuals and teams have been so successful. A great many athletic events are happening this week and beyond with regional competitions in soccer, and state competitions in tennis and cross country.
