The CHS Class of 2018 is going to step onto the football field as a group of students without a diploma and step off the football field as high school graduates with a diploma and a new wilderness in front of them.

It’s not just Friday, it’s the very first day of June and I love June. We are already off to a great start with the first of the Friday at Third concerts tonight in McFadden Plaza. Shane Dwight is back to perform for this free, family friendly event. The NEA sponsored Carson Big Read event comes to a close tonight with a free showing of 2010’s movie, True Grit in the Community Center Theater. Take the kids to the Children’s Museum for a special Night of Magic with Phoenix Phenomenal.

The 30-day National Endowment for the Arts Big Read program wraps up Friday, June 1, with its final event, Meet the Marshal, and showing of the 2010 version of "True Grit" by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club at the Bob Boldrick Theater at 6 p.m.

Two Eagle Valley Middle School students and two Pioneer High School students and their families experienced a tragic fire May 16 in Carson City.

Antonio and Alexis Trujillo’s family, and Jordan and Theodore Leyva’s family are now displaced following this incident.

Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours will perform at Carson City’s Brewery Arts Center this Friday, May 18 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. McClain brings his unique blend of music and “humor with heart” to the stage, combining original songs with a hilarious slide show featuring life observations, social commentary and imaginary sponsors from his home town trailer park of Pine View Heights.

Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus hosts its annual production of Handel's Messiah with performances this weekend in Gardnerville and South Lake Tahoe.

The spirit of Christmas comes to life as the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra and the Pat Esters Gospel Choir blends Christmas favorites, jazz, and soul - with a few surprises mixed in – for three performances of feel good, ‘get ready for the holidays’ music and song. Looking at a 5 p.m. Monday deadline the Brewery Arts Center is hoping for a big Carson City weekend push as it has lost some voter footing in its efforts to bring back the 10-week live outdoor music series it has hosted for two summers.

An old-fashioned “Holiday Open House” returns to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park Saturday, December 9 and 16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm both days.

The exhibit includes toys from the 1870s through the 1890s that were played with by Fred Dangberg, Jr., and his siblings, as well as numerous toys enjoyed by Fred’s five children and one grandson from the 1900s through the 1940s.

Internationally acclaimed Tintabulations Handbell Ensemble returns to ring in the 2017 holiday season. Join them Sunday, Dec. 3 for 'Winter Wanderings,' a magically entertaining holiday concert. The concert, free of charge and suitable for all ages, will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Reno at 7 p.m.

Leaves turning, wind blowing, and all things pumpkin sprouting up everywhere. It is absolutely autumn in Northern Nevada. Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Hello, music lovers...Since the critically acclaimed 1976 debut album featuring his own brand of high quality seventies guitar rock and roll, Pat Travers has gone on to deliver melodic eighties rock, a blues period throughout most of the nineties, noted performances with various power trios during the first few years of the new Millennium, and a full blooded return to the trademark Pat Travers Band sound as he entered his fifth performing and recording decade.
