I Love Carson City’s Weekend Event Summary: Oct. 14 – 15
Submitted by Danielle Cook on Fri, 10/13/2017 - 5:02pmLeaves turning, wind blowing, and all things pumpkin sprouting up everywhere. It is absolutely autumn in Northern Nevada. Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

Throughout the Silver State today people are wearing Nevada's state colors of silver and blue to show unity and support for the victim's of the Las Vegas mass shooting.

Vintage Airstreams will line the streets, a wine walk, the Aviation Roundup in Minden, Virginia City’s Outhouse Races, Oktoberfest at Fandango: and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Get a jump on the festivities tonight with plenty of live music, two artists’ receptions, karaoke, comedy, or the Witchcraft and Wizardry Ball at the Boys and Girls Club. Join in solidarity with our famous city to the south by wearing blue and silver today and attending the Candlelight Vigil at the Capitol Building.

Last week camping with the Ness family, we hit a whopping low of 24 degrees one night. That is hardcore camping when you are in a tent. I strive to make sure that my things-to-do lists reflect the many options available to you. Today, for example, you’ll find a fundraiser for Catmandu, the monthly meeting of the fly fishing club, some country line dancing, jazz and poetry, and a walk along the historic Blue Line Trail. No two Tuesdays are alike (or Wednesdays or Thursdays, for that matter), so it’s always worth checking out. Now that we are moving into autumn, the activities in Carson City change like the leaves.

We had a great day of fishing, but to see the devastation from the Slinkard Fire was hard to accept. We saw where the fire came within feet from homes in the Topaz area.
Local Artists Stevenson and Foster Display The Power of Light

Offering a fresh perspective and dazzling light, this exhibit showcases popular scenes such as Death Valley, Emerald Bay, and Pyramid Lake. The public is invited to attend a free reception with refreshments from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14 at the NAA Gallery, 449 W. King Street, Carson City. The gallery is open Tuesday – Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and during wine walk.

Run Whatcha Brung at Fuji Park is open to any and all cars that can get themselves there. The Rockabilly Riot and T Bucket Alliance at Mills Park is an American Graffiti flashback. Cheer on our local motorcycle cops at the Extreme Motor Challenge, or hop on your own bike and go on a poker run with the Lords of Iron Motorcycle Club.

I had thought they were different, but after extensive research, I found that their hybridization goes back thousands of years and crossed many countries and even continents.

Live music, races, activities, and much more await you downtown as part of the Carson City Off-Road. Stewart Indian School is awash in bright colors, beadwork, and dancers from all across the country during their annual Fathers’ Day Pow Wow. Congratulations to the Show Tree Brewing Company by the Carson Hot Springs; their big grand opening bash includes multiple bands. Keep reading – this weekend has a whole lot to offer.
