French Guitar Master Brings Halloween Enchantment to Brewery Arts Center

Event Date:
October 31, 2016 - 8:00pm

After of the usual Halloween hubbub this Monday, you can spend a spellbinding evening with guitarist/composer Arthur Dente and flutist Valentine Dente. Weaving a rich blend of classical, jazz, and flamenco guitar and flute, the duo of Arthur and Valentine Dente serve up an extraordinary performance of world music influenced by Latin-America, India, France, and the Celtic nations.

They create a passionate musical journey, combining virtuosity and intimacy that conjures the magic of sunny days in Spain, cool evenings in France, and the whirling, festival colors of Latin America and India.

I Love Carson City's Weekend Event Summary: Oct. 15 - 16

Event Date:
October 15, 2016 (All day)
October 16, 2016 (All day)

I’m usually a lover of sunny days, but right now I say bring on the rain. The moisture is a welcome help to our heroic firefighters in Lake Tahoe and Washoe Valley. Because of the wet weather and the recent fires, some activities have been postponed: most notably the Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Light After Dark Run. There are still plenty of things to occupy your time, but the weather may force more cancellations.

Thank You Carson City for Remembering

This is to express my gratitude to the organizers of the 9/11 memorial held at Mills Park. The ceremony was poignant, reverent, and healing. Also, I wish to thank the members of the community who showed up to remember our heros. Your attendance and quiet respect was amazing. Thank you Carson City for not forgetting.

Steph Curry said he hopes to get off to a good start on the opening day and be in the conversation at the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

Plants are more sensitive to changes in temperature than humans are. Not only are they stuck where they are planted, temperature plays a critical role in plant processes. Photosynthesis, the process by which green plants capture the energy of the sun and convert it to sugar energy (plant food) using carbon dioxide, nutrients from the soil and water, increases with heat.

Conversations with Land and Sky Oil paintings by Charles Muench

Oil Paintings of the Sierra and Nevada by Charles Muench
Event Date:
June 3, 2016 (All day)

Painting is my passion. Both the gothic shapes of the Eastern Sierra and the endless horizon of the Nevada High Desert inspire and inform my work.

My paintings are the result of a synesthetic dialog with the landscape. I cannot help but hear the colors of the high desert in the mid-summer sun, smell the grandeur of the Sierra peaks rising above the alpine autumn twilight, and touch the expanse of vast, open spaces on a cold, winter evening.
