Mystery novel event Thursday to benefit Carson City Library

Bacon will talk about “Where Mystery Writers Get Their Deadly Ideas,” and sign copies of his new book, “Desert Kill Switch,” this Thursday, Jan. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Browsers Corner Book Store in Carson City. Half the profits will benefit the Friends of the Carson City Library.

The Capital City Arts Initiative [CCAI] presents its exhibition, "Wish You Were Here", by artist Susanne Forestieri at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Friday, October 6, 5-7pm. The exhibit will be in the gallery from October 6, 2017 – January 18, 2018.

The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The reception and the exhibition are free and the public is cordially invited. The gallery is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.

Its family day at Carson Lanes, which means bowling is just one dollar per person per game all day long. Warm up those vocal chords for karaoke at the Fox Brewpub: Manic Monday by the Bangles or Monday, Monday by the Mama and the Papas might make for a good song choice.

Librarians meet with Nevada lawmakers to petition funding

As the father of five kids, Sen. Mo Denis, D-Las Vegas, relied heavily on the Clark County library system.
“We would take our kids to lap sit at the library and leave with 30 books — for each child,” he recalled. “Our home was full of books. There’s no way we could have afforded that without the library. We also participated in musicals at the library. It’s just an integral part of my family.”
