In its sixth year, Carson City has fought hunger during the holidays in a very unique way by serving delicious hot soups prepared by local restaurants that are dished up in ceramic bowls made by the hands of people in the community.

This Friday, the all-you-can-eat fundraiser returns, this time at the Carson Mall, with an array of holiday entertainment, an auction, raffle and more to go along with delicious, savory and soothing hot soup delights.

The event runs from 4 to 8 p.m. inside the Carson Mall's north entrance.

For six years now, the Carson City community has been helping to feed the hungry through Empty Bowls, an international project to combat hunger worldwide, with an annual fundraising event during the Christmas season.

For most, waking up this morning to rain was a big relief given the fire situation over the past few months. Today is Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Sassafras Electric Food Joint and The Moonshot Coup will present a free Carson City show featuring award winning singer, songwriter and international artist Nate Currin. With more than 600,000 miles driven and 800 shows performed over the last 12 years, Nate Currin is a troubadour in every sense of the word.

The Carson Valley Art Center is a new art center located in Minden at 1644 U.S. Highway 395, Suite B, between the Bank of America and the old winery directly across the street from the Carson Valley Market.

This Sunday, August 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, potter Patrick Cahill will be joined by his Raku Pottery Class students to participate in a raku firing at Carson City Art Gallery and Pottery.

CARSON CITY — Western Nevada College’s Community Education Department is now enrolling students for a variety of fall courses, including old favorites like Clay Club and brand new classes like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Community education classes are open to anyone in the Northern Nevada community and are designed to accommodate a variety of schedules and budgets.

A familiar phone scam began circulating in Carson City over the weekend, this time naming a Carson City Sheriff's Office captain as the phone caller.

Independence Day isn’t until Wednesday, but the red, white, and blue celebration starts now. Carson City Art Gallery & Pottery LLC is giving you more of what you want – art classes. We have approached our artists with the offer of teaching 2-3 hour workshops, and series of classes when they have time.

Thursday, June 21, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., we will hold another workshop in the series “Finger On Impressionism” with Mimi Gomberg. Participating in this workshop will feed your inner child, helping you reach new depths of creativity through finger painting. Have fun under the tutelage of Mimi Gomberg as she shares her technique with you.

She works with silver, bronze, and copper precious metal clay, as well as silver, gold, and copper wire to hand-form unique pieces of fine jewelry. Light refreshments will be served.

When organizers formed the Greenhouse Project 10 years ago in Carson City, their vision was to establish a sustainable program that provided wholesome, natural produce to the community.

What Carson City has benefited from over the past decade is exactly that.
