The Levitt Amp Concert Series continues this Saturday night at 7pm at the Brewery Arts Center with Terceto Kali with the Jason McGuire Trio.

This groundbreaking musical trio seamlessly blends flamenco, Latin, and jazz in music and dance with a cast of world-class artists from around the country who are rooted in a variety of musical genres.

Lineup for Brewery Arts Center's free summer concert series

The Brewery Arts Center (BAC) in downtown Carson City will be hosting a free summer concert series this year, sponsored by the Mortimer and Mimi Levitt Foundation.

Through the efforts of the BAC, Carson City was one of 15 cities nationwide awarded the concert series for 2016.

The Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series kicks off June 4 and will run every Saturday evening through August 6 with live music starting at 7 p.m. along Minnesota Street next to the BAC. The 10-week music series will include one Friday night show on June 17.

The concert series is free and open to the public.

Carson City wins tourism grants for mountain bike promotion, art walk, MAC and powwow

With the Epic Rides Off-Road Series mountain biking race set for this summer, the Carson City Visitors Bureau can pump up the fat tire frenzy along with its promotion thanks in part to a $4,000 grant, among 65 approved for funding from the state’s rural tourism program, Nevada Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison announced Wednesday.

WNC's Western Nevada Musical Theatre recognized as launchpad to professional careers

As the Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company celebrates its 25th anniversary with a long-awaited production of “Mary Poppins,” weekends, Nov. 6 through 21, the company is also reflecting on the impact it has made in Northern Nevada.

In addition to the high quality theatre that it has offered the region, many former student/performers have gone on to careers in Hollywood, on Broadway, in academia and more.

Liz Penniman has shown in galleries in New York, London, San Francisco, Houston, and throughout Texas and California. Her artistic roots are influenced by the San Francisco Bay Area Figurative Movement, and her education at the Art Student's League of New York focused first on classical portraiture and later on abstract expressionism. She currently lives and works in the North Tahoe/Truckee area and participates in The Reno Art Salon and Critique Circle.

Students at Online Charter School Give Back Through Service Projects

The mission of Leadership Academy of Nevada (LANV) is to prepare students to become principled leaders. Each semester students study and learn leadership skills and at the end of the year put the learned skills into practice through a three-week Leadership Block. An essential characteristic of a principled leader is providing service and all students are required to give at least two hours of service to their community.

Trump’s Wrong; We Need Many More Legal Immigrants

“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” Those were Donald Trump’s words about Mexican immigrants in announcing he’s running for President.

We take strong exception to all that. And, having labored long in the political fields with other dedicated limited-government conservatives and Republicans, we know those are not the views of most of our folks.
America has not always welcomed legal immigrants with open arms, but we should -- now more than ever. Overall, they are a blessing to us just as America is a blessing to them.
