Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. TedX has returned to the Brewery Arts Center, bringing inspiring speakers, great music, and something special to Carson City. Break a leg to the talented members of our Carson High School Theater Program – an updated version of the Greek Classic ‘Eurydice’ opens on the Bob Boldrick stage at the Community Center tonight. A Carson City woman was arrested Friday afternoon at 2:27 p.m. in the area of Pheasant and Fairview drives for felony child neglect, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

With all the motorcycles on the road, you may be looking for some peace and quiet. Luckily, it’s fee-free day at all of the Nevada State Parks. Load up the kids, pack a picnic, at head to the great outdoors. Don’t miss out on the last-of-the-season Farmers Market at Third and Curry, stock up on local honey and load your basket with yummy stuff. For something quieter, the final weekend of 'Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe' at the Brewery Arts Center is a great alternative. Funny lady and local favorite, Kat Simmons, is this week's featured performer at Carson Comedy inside the Nugget - stick around downtown and enjoy Southbound Train at the Westside Pour House.

This Monday, Oct. 2 the Nevada Office of the Attorney General will be conducting an informational session at the Carson City Chamber of Commerce to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to present the tools and resources needed to stay safe online.

CARSON CITY — Winners of the “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” fire safety poster contest were announced Friday by State Fire Marshal Bart J. Chambers.

You’ll see some pretty interesting vehicles on the road these next few days, as travelers from all over head to Burning Man. If you aren’t off to the Playa yourself, there will be plenty of fun around town to keep you and your family occupied. Congrats, Carson kids, you've just about survived the first week of school. Families can celebrate with a concert in Minden Park that will be filled with the music of Credence Clearwater Survival. Adults will enjoy an outdoor concert at Living the Good Life with Mo'z Motley Blues Band - just make sure to wish the proprietress a happy birthday. Fallon might be a few miles away, but their Cantaloupe Festival, Carnival, and Country Fair is sure to make up for the drive with delicious offerings and a fun country tribute concert.

Make this weekend something special. School starts up on Monday and it will be Halloween before we blink an eye. The Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival at Battle Born Harley boasts a full day of live music, vendors, activities and family fun. Bowers Mansion plays host to the annual Bluegrass Festival – bring a picnic and enjoy. Downtown Carson City will see the first of three monthly Beer Crawls; if you get there early, head over to Remedy’s to witness their yearly Bloody Mary Competition. There is something for everyone this weekend, so keep reading and find your fun.

Let's kick off the weekend with a street party, or two. The HopeFest Concert at the Carson Tahoe Medical Center is a family friendly celebration. Grab something from a food truck, enter their raffle, and get your groove on. The music doesn't stop when the sun goes down though. You've got your choice of Deception at Living the Good Life, or Mentally Spent on the Third Street Stage in McFadden Plaza. Douglas County has Summerfest in Minden Park: live music, yummy eats, and a come-as-you-are car show sure to get Carson Valley hoppin.

UPDATE 5:11PM: Carson City Sheriff's Office detectives have identified the suspect arrested Thursday afternoon for his alleged involvement in a series of burglaries. The suspect is Jose Celedon, 24. Celedon is currently cooperating with detectives and is being linked to numerous burglaries around Carson City, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Capt. Brian Humphrey. The investigation continues with additional arrests possible.

A 40-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon following a brief vehicle chase, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

With a Pacific Northern Division-leading record of 55-38, the Reno Aces looked to conclude the four-game home-stand against the El Paso Chihuahuas with a win, tying the series at 2-2. Aces starting pitcher Frank Duncan (7-5, 6.11 ERA) hoped to tack on a team-leading 8th win of the season before another four-game series against the Salt Lake Bees.

Hazy conditions around Carson City and the region is due to the smoke from several fires in Nevada and California that continue to burn Sunday with thousands of firefighting personnel battling the blazes.

A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for felony suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor resisting a public officer, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning on multiple charges including burglary and possessing five stolen firearms after he allegedly broke into the Cal-Ranch store on North Carson Street, a sheriff’s deputy said.

A 46 year-old male transient was arrested at 5:44 p.m. Thursday evening in the area of West Fifth and South Nevada streets on multiple misdemeanor violations, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said, including driving his motor home on a sidewalk.

A 24-year-old Tahoe man jailed Wednesday after leading Nevada Highway Patrol troopers on a vehicle pursuit from Highway 50 Spooner to downtown Carson City, faces charges of attempting to escape and destruction of jail property, a sheriff’s deputy said.

12:31PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver as Jesus Herrarea-Casas from South Lake Tahoe. He was placed under arrest and taken to Carson City Sheriff’s Office for booking for Eluding Police, Reckless driving, Disregard Traffic control device(s), Speeding, and driving without a valid license. He may also be charged with DUI, pending the test results.

A man who led Nevada Highway Patrol on a chase that began on U.S. 50 on Spooner Summit ended just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in a crash in downtown Carson City.

A 28-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning in the 300 block of North Carson Street for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor obstructing/resisting a police officer. He was taken into custody following a foot chase, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
