Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada is pleased to announce this year’s Triumphant: Celebrating Women in Leadership Dinner honorees. Ahead Tuesday include a morning walk and evening hike with Muscle Powered, a "haunted" cemetery tour at Lone Mountain, a business networking meeting at Casino Fandango and the Fat Tuesday business networking group at Carson Nugget, archery at Centennial Park and more. And we're off as we count down the days until Saturday's Nevada Day celebration, the biggest statewide party of its kind or any kind for that matter. Going into the first day of the work week, Monday, Oct. 21, we're looking at sunshine and a high around 70. Events around the capital city include a lunch discussion on the Secret Witness program, art showings, West Coast swing dancing and more.

A 33-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man were arrested by Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team deputies in the area of North Edmonds Drive for suspected possession of methamphetamine. The woman also faces charges of possession of stolen credit cards and having a burglary tool.

The Nevada State Museum in Carson City continues it series of Mint150 programs on Saturday with tours of the Mint building, a lecture on collecting Carson City memorabilia and a demonstration of historic Coin Press No. 1.

The Mint150 programs, the third Saturday of each month, are all up to the sesquicentennial of the U.S. Branch Mint in February 2020. The Nevada State Museum is housed in the former U.S. Mint building.

It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

The Carson City Office of Nevada JobConnect is hosting the Carson City Fall Job Fair on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, the Carson City Nugget will be hosting a Job Fair on the same day, October 29, beginning at 2 p.m.

The Carson Nugget is pleased to announce that we are hosting a job fair on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. to fill positions in full time, part time and seasonal capacities. All levels of experience are invited to attend the event which takes place in Alatte on the main floor of the casino on N. Carson Street.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the final V&T Railway train rides of the 2019 season, the 27th annual Carson City Pumpkin Patch at Seeliger Elementary School, fundraisers around town, coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum, comedy at the Carson Nugget and more!

Breezy and cool conditions are on the way as we look ahead to Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. Years before she was known as the “Highway Queen,” a 7-year-old girl rode atop pavement rollers in South Carolina with a driver named Rooster. Taking lunch-menu orders was Nikki Lane’s first job, and she was good at it.

The upcoming Carson City Republican Women's Club meeting will have Nevada State Senator James Settelmeyer as the guest speaker.

The meeting will be held in the Casino Fandango ballroom on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Social hour begins at 11:00 a.m. and the meeting/luncheon at 11:30 a.m.

— A 34-year-old transient woman was arrested in the 800 block of North Roop Street on 13 charges including grand theft auto, hit and run, eluding, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Nicole Lee Katz was arrested after deputies were dispatched to the Carson City Aquatics Center for a report of a stolen vehicle.
