Relative says couple missing since Thursday found; headed to Carson Tahoe Hospital

HOPE VALLEY, CALIF. - A family member of Roderick Clifton called KOLO 8 News Now Wednesday night saying the couple missing since last Thursday has been found.

CHP still cannot confirm whether the couple, Roderick Clifton and Paula Lane, has been found. Sgt. Joe Sherry said he was notified at 8:30pm Wednesday night that, " A female subject had made contact with somebody at Sorenson's Resort. She had said that they were in a collision. I don't have a name on her."

KOLO reports the family is headed to Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City.

Injury accident at Highway 50 near Dump Hill

Two people were injured after a two-vehicle crash that shut down Highway 50 at Dump Hill outside Carson City. The drivers of both vehicles were sent to Carson Tahoe Hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown. The accident had shut down east and westbound lanes of traffic. Traffic is now moving in the eastbound lane.

Carson City crosswalk accident sends to two hospital with minor injuries

UPDATE 6:17PM: Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong reports tonight that two suffered minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle. They were taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City. CareFlight had been called but canceled after it was determined the injuries were not life-threatening and were considered minor.

Baby's injuries grave, Carson City sheriff confirms; case under investigation

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says an 18-month old boy isn't expected to live after authorities were called Saturday about injuries the child had sustained.
The case is under investigation. The father of the child and the girlfriend of the father who was taking care of the child are cooperating with the investigation, Furlong said.

No Meningitis Outbreak in Northern Nevada

There are no known outbreaks of meningitis in Northern Nevada, reports Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City.
Doris Dimmitt, hospital epidemiologist, reports that the hospital did not use the contaminated drug identified as causing the outbreak.
Nevada is identified as one of the states receiving the contaminated drugs. The FDA identified and seized five unopened vials of contaminated drug from Southern Nevada, but no infected patients have been identified state wide.

Car drives into Carson City Eye Center, three injured

At least two people sustained non-life threatening injuries and one was treated at the scene after a car drove into The Eye Center at 1299 Mountain Street in Carson City. The accident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Witnesses to the accident said they heard a crash and saw that a car was inside the storage area of the building.
Two people were inside the car that was in the building. Both were able to get out though one person was partially trapped. A Jeep was clipped by the car before it went into the building. Debris from the accident area was scattered about 30-40 feet.

Carson City man identified in fatal accident on Highway 395 in Minden

A Carson City man has been identified by the Nevada Highway Patrol as being the sole occupant in a fatal crash early Sunday morning, Sept. 16, on Highway 395 in Douglas County.
Rafael Silva-Olivas, 43, died when he lost control of his 1991 Jeep Wrangler on Highway 395 and Lucerne Street.

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is pleased to announce net proceeds of over $50,000 for their 2nd Annual Carson City HopeFest fundraiser. This is an increase over last year’s net earnings of $37,000 and like last year, one hundred percent of these proceeds go towards local cancer patients seeking treatment in Carson City. Currently, the CTH Foundation is the only non-profit organization focused on supporting Carson area cancer patients with living expenses.

NHP releases more details on Douglas County weekend fatal accidents on Highway 395

The Nevada Highway Patrol has released more information into two deadly vehicle accidents this weekend that resulted in four fatalities on Highway 395 in Douglas County. The accidents happened within a few hours of each other. The first accident, in which three people died, was reported at 11:45 p.m. Saturday night near Leviathan Mine Road on Highway 395.

Soroptimist International of Carson City seeks golfers, tee or green sponsors, and raffle prize donations for their 11th annual Stroke to Help Golf Tournament. The tournament is Saturday, September 29, at Eagle Valley Golf Course. Golfers may choose to play either the duffer-friendly East Course or the challenging links-style West Course. Play on both courses will be a 9 a.m. Shotgun start, with a Scramble format. Cost is $85 per player, and includes a Continental Breakfast, greens fee and cart, tee prizes, and a Barbecue lunch afterwards.

Hope and the promise of it for hundreds of Carson City area cancer patients lands on the lawn of the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center today. I wanted to take some time to send out a special thank you to the awesome Businesses and people in our community who helped support our Junior and Senior Little League All Stars advancement to the Western Regional Tournaments in Vancouver WA and Ontario, CA this year! With out their support this would not have been possible for these fine athletes. Our Juniors (13-14 year olds) and Seniors (15-16 year olds) both Finished 1 and 3 in their tournaments and failed to advance to the Little League World Series but had an experience that most kids never have had.

Body found may be that of missing Carson City doctor

Searchers hunting for missing Carson City doctor Gary Dankworth found the body of a man late Wednesday night during their search, confirmed a spokeswoman for the Inyo County Sheriff's Department.

Though the body has not been confirmed as that of Dankworth, KOLO8 is reporting that Carson-Tahoe Health issued the following statement:

“The Carson Tahoe family is saddened by the news of Dr. Dankworth’s death. The past several days have been difficult and we, like the rest of the community, have been hoping for the best. We are a small, close knit community and tragedies within our medical staff affect us all. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and we will do all we can to support them during this very sad time,” said Ed Epperson, President and CEO.

Crime Log: Carson City man arrested for methamphetamines

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Anthony John Chappa, 24, a Carson City resident, just prior to 11 p.m. Wednesday. Chappa was arrested for felony allegations of possession of methamphetamines and possession of methamphetamines with the intent to sell, as well as the misdemeanor allegations of driving without proof of insurance, driving with fictitious registration, driving without headlights, and speeding from 1 to 10 over.

Crime Log: Man arrested in Carson City for cocaine

Carson City Sheriff's deputies made the following felony or gross misdemeanor arrests over Memorial Day Weekend:

  • Joaquin Paul Gabriel Jr., 29, an electrician from San Jose, Calif., at 10:30 p.m. Friday. Gabriel was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), as well as misdemeanor allegations of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has been set at $4,100 plus administrative fees.

Crime Log: Carson City man turns self in on statutory sexual seduction warrant

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals on felony allegations:

  • Ivan Botello, 26, a machinist from Carson City, at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Botello was arrested on a statutory sexual seduction warrant in his name after he turned himself in at the Carson City Sheriff's Office. Bail is set at $15,000.
